We had the good fortune of connecting with Yb Terrion and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi YB, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always been business minded. As a child, I was always fascinated with creating. I wrote songs, created businesses, sold candy, mowed lawns, washed cars, and anything else I could think of. I even wrote contracts in pencil and crayon. The mindset has always been there but I never knew how to legitimately create a functioning business. My thought has always been “if you can think it, do it”. Luckily for me, my creativity and drive has never been stifled by anyone or anything. If I don’t know how to do something, I will figure it out. The overall thought is, just do it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is a direct reflection of who I am as an individual. I’ve been creating art since I was a child and it has been developing as I’ve got older. What sets me apart from others is that I’m honest, genuine, clever, witty, and inspiring with my art. When you see and hear my art, you see and hear me. There is no difference. I’m not an actor that plays a role on screen and then once the camera stops rolling is a different way. I’m the same person, all day everyday.

As of November 2024, I am proud to say that my team and I have successfully released an album, funded and completed our first independent summer tour, released a 9-episode podcast series, and finally shot, filmed, edited, and released our very first independent film in theaters complete with a full-length soundtrack. The journey wasn’t easy at all. There were a lot of learning curves, financial struggles, difference of opinion, and of course the everyday struggles of life and what all comes with being an adult. However, through all of that, my team and I managed to push through and have our most successful year thus far.

If there was anything to take away from my brand or my story, it’s to always try and never give up. See your dreams through to the end. It’s going to get challenging. You will be frustrated, stressed, discouraged, lonely, and even sleep deprived. But, if it’s your passion, keep going! People tend give up right before the victory because they don’t see the results they want. Push anyways. The race is not given to the swift but to those who endure until the end.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To be honest, there isn’t much to do where I live. If you want to get into something fun, your best bet would be to hit the underground bowling, the farmer’s market, or go to one of the bars in town. If you’re looking for something a little more classy, there are a few fine dining restaurants and bars to visit. We have a museum, a performing arts theater, and a few other miscellaneous things to do as well. If none of that works for you, just go to LA.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I pride myself in saying that I have the most amazing group of people around me that keep me going and help me accomplish all my goals and dreams. I personally want to thank my JCReppin’ team who have played a MAJOR role in the success of my businesses. Thank you Mama Dey, Lindsey, “Marvel”, KB, Divine, Marisa, Derjuan, and Jvpitr. I also want to shout out my frequent collaborators Mike and Chelsea Hernandez from CEC, Tamara McKay, Sam Ridley, Ayinde Love, Dragon, Divine Intervention Artistries, Hason and Destiny Meyers from Kingdom Cuts. I want to shout out my family who have supported my dreams starting from adolescent to now. I want to shout out anyone who has ever supported me in any way. My business would not be what it is without you. Finally, and most importantly, I want to thank God for giving me the ability and the mind to do what I do. I’m so blessed, honored, and humbled to be used by God every day.
