Meet Yeranoui ‘Noui’ Dzhigneyan | Kinesiologist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yeranoui ‘Noui’ Dzhigneyan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yeranoui ‘Noui’, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Overall I think we might find it much easier to settle with the status quo rather than make a change, take a chance, or speak up, but I think it’s important to remember that risk-taking can be a good thing. Often times there is a negative connotation associated with risk and it can inherently hold you back from reaching your goals. We might not know the outcome of the situation, but I believe it’s important to take that courageous step in order to grow.
Taking risks has played a major role in my career. I knew I wanted something more in my career as a personal fitness trainer but I couldn’t do that if I continued to work at a corporate gym. I took a leap of faith and started to take on clients privately and eventually grew my own fully booked personal training business. The road wasn’t easy and there definitely was mistakes made along the way, but taking that risk and learning along the way made room for my career to grow and continue to grow.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m a kinesiologist who views health as a combination of physical, mental, and emotional well being. During one on one sessions, I teach others how to be completely present, internalizing how the body and mind feel, and respond to certain effort levels. My training approach is really about having my clients be more intuitive and in tune with their bodies. I keep the workouts challenging but never to the point of exhaustion. I value the importance of quality sleep, a balanced nutrition, and having a healthy relationship with exercise. I believe health and fitness is much more than working out and meal prepping. I truly want my clients and others to feel confident and comfortable with their bodies from inside out. I offer one on one private sessions as well as an online program, Body & Soul: The 6 Week Wellness Program.
Even though I was very active growing up, I had never stepped foot in a gym. I had always been curious about lifting weights, but never had the guidance nor the confidence to go alone. However, I was ready for the challenge. Often times, I found myself as the only female on the weight room floor for my early morning workouts. Other times, I found there was a lack of understanding between the mind to body connection in the fitness industry. The idea of pushing yourself to the ultimate limit and ignoring signs that the body is communicating didn’t sit well with me. I started to include things in my routine that would better my health and fitness overall (goal planning, balanced nutrition, rest, etc) and learned quickly that this is what the fitness industry is missing. I started to include these things with my clients as well and I have been loving seeing the positive impact it has had on others.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I think LA has so much to offer but some of the best things about here is the weather, food, and shopping. Spending the day at the beach would definitely be on the itinerary- renting a bike to ride from Santa Monica to Marina Del Ray, grabbing a bite to eat on Venice Boardwalk, and then laying out on the sand will give you the full southern California experience. Going on a hike in Malibu with a beautiful view of the ocean would also be on the list. Aside from the beach, I love having a day at the museum. The Getty Center holds a variety of art pieces and has a beautiful garden while the Griffith Observatory offers star shows and has a great view of the city. I also find checking out flea markets are so exciting- you can find unique pieces, clothes, and household items while supporting local small businesses. Some of my favorites are Los Feliz Flea, Silverlake Flea, and LACC Swap Meet.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is a huge thank you to my immigrant parents. They made the biggest sacrifice and immigrated from Armenia in the early 90’s leaving their family, leaving their country, leaving everything they ever knew, all to give me and my sisters the life they never had. I am grateful for growing up with our language, food, and culture, despite fighting “being different” for years of my childhood. I wouldn’t be who I am today without it. My family taught me to hustle hard; they showed me the value of working hard for what you want in order to accomplish your dreams. It takes guts and it takes perseverance. I see the choices and sacrifices my parents have made and am extremely grateful for the lessons learned that have helped me to become who I am today.
