We had the good fortune of connecting with Zach Hagy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zach, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Honestly, it happened pretty organically. I knew I didn’t want to attend college and whatever I would be doing I could teach myself. My mentor at the time started a production company and I would say that influenced me into starting my own agency whether I knew it at the time or not. Going into freelancing I really had no idea what I was doing but it was the foundation of starting my own business. Currently, I now run a business with a designer and that has really pushed the scale of jobs that we are able to do.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The only thing in this world that we have that separates us from others is ourselves. I am always reminding myself to think about what you have gone through, what pisses me off, what makes me happy, and what moves me. Taking those thoughts and creating art around it is what separates me from others because they are true to me and made for myself but in hopes to inspire others. As different as we all are many of us have gone through similar experiences and creating art around those experiences will often connect with others.

This is a pretty interesting time in my creative life. I am going through a creative block that has happened before and will happen again. I am constantly trying to think outside the box and push myself so with this next journey I am looking to create large-scale fine art sets that reflect my life.

It’s never easy being an artist, we all are trapped in our own minds but find beauty in it.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mentor when it all started, Nick Stachurski who now is one of my best friends and creative partner on a lot of projects. He really pushed me when I first started and gave me opportunities that really I had no reason to be shooting. To this day he still pushes me and asks questions about art and work that make me excel to the next level. I also give a lot of credit to printed matter. I have been collecting art books for several years now and regularly look and read through them for inspiration and motivation.
