We had the good fortune of connecting with Zusha Goldin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zusha, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe that taking risks is the only true way to grow. When you are in your comfort zone you are stuck in almost a loop. You stay within the comforts of your own brain and do the same things over and over again. Kind of like GroundHog Day. In order to succeed in any industry you must go out of your comfort zone to take risks and bring yourself to new heights. Let me just put it this way: If I never took any risks, I’d still be at my family apartment home in Brooklyn shooting local Bar Mitzvahs.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to an Ultra Orthodox Hasidic Jewish family. I’m the youngest of 10. I’ve been extremely passionate about photography since I was a child.

What sets me apart from other photographers is that I don’t only focus on the results. I focus on the photography experience.

I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come since I started my journey. So many ups and downs but that’s what makes it beautiful.

The only challenges I’ve really had to overcome was/is self-doubt and imposter syndrome. I want everyone reading this to know that everyone has some sort of anxiety, depression, self-doubt or imposter syndrome and that’s okay. It doesn’t mean you’re broken or that you aren’t good enough. In fact, it means that you’re a strong person for coming out on top!

I’d like to show everyone that no matter your background, your education, or whatever, you can do anything you set your mind to do! I firmly believe that! No manifestation crap, real strategic hard work! You can accomplish your dreams!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Interesting question… my friend Mendel H, actually visited me in Los Angeles two week ago.

We went to the Griffith Observatory, El Matador Beach in Malibu, The La Brea Tar Pitts, a myriad of bars and restaurants including Fish Grill Beverly, Jeff’s Gourmet Sausage, One80 Pizzeria, Charcoal Grill, Erwheon Supermarket which is my go to place where I shop daily, The Elbow Room in Hollywood, this really cool bar on Sunset whose name I forget, and of course my photography studio where I took some great portraits of him.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Whew, okay this is going to be a long thanking process, I’d like to start off with my amazing family: My parents, my sisters Sarah M, Devora Leah, Chaya P, Chana M, Riva, my brothers Michoel, Shlomo, Menachem and Schneur. My awesome brother in laws: Isroel, Simha and Mendel. My sister in laws Rivky and Ariel. My cousins Miriam, Faigy, Tova, Pinny, Moshe and Zevi. My amazing friends Mendel H, Menachem S, Avi B, Avi P, Eli T and JJ P. So many people have been supporting my journey so far and I’m sure I left out a few people…
