We had the good fortune of connecting with Rayne Parvis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rayne, what can you tell us about how you met your significant other?
Matt and I met at a poker home game back in 2006. He always had a crush on me, courted me from afar and supported me through the years as a dear friend. I wasn’t attracted to him at first…because of his comb-over, old-polos and pleats. HAHAHA! He made a wonderful decision to hire me to make him over. The personal shopping outing lead to a complete closet over haul and appearance revamp…bye-bye comb-over and frumpy duds. Not to brag, but he couldn’t stop the compliments from coming in. I also noticed how attracted I was to him. Who knew?! His outward persona now matched his awesome personality. Before we started dating I moved a block away from his house. We started hanging out more and well…the rest is now writing history. I fell in love with the man who had loved me for years. I find joy in telling our story because it also encompasses what I teach with my Style Coaching™ services: dress for the significant other, job and life you want. Take care of yourself. Put time into your appearance and watch the doors open for you. Be thankful, stand-up tall and never give up on your dreams. Matt waited eight years for his.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work as a Style Coach™ and personal stylist is forever changing! Revamping, restyling and completely making people over is by far considered an art form. Over the years I’ve styled for matchmaking agencies, award winning acting headshot photographers, branding agencies, Nordstrom, and personal clients. My craft comes easy to me but it’s been a challenge to reinvent my services again and again with the influx of style prescription boxes and free styling services being so accessible. Overcoming any obstacle while staying true to my passion of helping goal getters achieve a personally polished look on the outside, with confidence to match on the inside while having fun along the way is the only way I know. By always evolving, learning new skills and educating myself on how to improve my services and styling deliverables I have been able to withstand the ever changing personal styling business and be one of the leading stylist in Los Angeles for the past 10 years. With over 60- 5 star reviews on Yelp and countless personal praises from client’s in texts and emails my love for people and my craft has never waivered. With my relatable, authentic and down-to-earth way of teaching, the people who work with me will feel loved, valued and cherished…and who doesn’t want that?!
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
My top 3 places to take visitors are The Original Farmer’s Market at The Grove for unique gifts, lunch and people watching, Sidewalk Cafe on Venice Beach for having lunch by the ocean and more people watching, Casa Vega for dinner and cocktails in Sherman Oaks, Ca., and the Beverly Connection for great deals and super shopping. For entertainment, a comedy show at The Improv or Comedy Store is a must.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I love to shout out to August Mclaughlin and Erin Tillman for their never wavering girl boss friendship and to Kate Redmond, director of Style Coaching Institute in London.
