We had the good fortune of connecting with Sammie Mancine and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sammie, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
The importance of preventative health and how your daily food choices really do matter. It takes so much more work when your health has been compromised as opposed to making the habit to put your health first. Everything in your body has a balance and your job should be to maintain your health nutritionally, mentally and physically.
What should our readers know about your business?
I work privately as a Holistic Nutritionist, Trainer and Health Coach but I also provide nutritional and movement programs for individuals to do from home! I’m a Registered Nurse and have experience working in a hospital setting, but over time I saw so many things that were done backwards that I just didn’t understand. The medical system likes quick fixes and to put bandaids over problems instead of looking for the root of the issue. I felt as though I spent most of my time trying to educate patients about their own health and how to focus on preventative choices to avoid issues in the future. Now I get to work with people who know that something isn’t working with their bodies and they want to make a change now, instead of waiting for more problems down the line.
The proactive movement is what I LOVE! It has definitely been a journey to get where I’m at now, but I feel as though I have been working toward this direction since college. I practice what I preach which makes things easy to help others and I love working with all types of clients to challenge myself and broaden my own knowledge. Being able to see transformations with individuals and seeing the health changes on a larger scale is what pushes me daily!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Basically anything associated with good food and movement is what they will look forward to! Hiking up in Mandeville or in Malibu are some of my favorite spots so we can bring my pup. Heading out to Venice beach and getting some Vitamin D or getting a friend to take out their boat for the day to sail. We would also most likely hang out in Santa Monica where we would meet up with other friends and introduce them to Acro Yoga. Get them out of their comfort bubble :). LA always has random events to go to as well. Movies in the park, comedy shows at Laugh Factory, the Magic Castle it just depends on what’s happening! As for food! Breakfast burritos from Great White or a Zinque scramble would definitely be a breakfast option. Cafe Gratitude or Tocaya for lunch. And lots of sushi for dinner; Sugarfish, Matsuhisa, and Uzumaki are just some of my favorite spots!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Mona Sharma… 100% is such an inspiration. She’s such a positive person and enthusiast of health on all spectrums. We have very similar views, and she has done such amazing things with her work. I see her as one of my mentors and I hope I can get to her level one day! Also, a few of my friends have been such a great support system making me believe I can do what I do and I know they support me 110%. Alexa Hughes, Annie Nam, Masha Mkrtchyan Ghazal Ghaysar. My besties and biggest support team.
