We had the good fortune of connecting with Sat Devbir and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sat, can you tell us about an important risk you took in life?
I took a risk when I left my corporate job in luxury hotels to pursue my passions in the wellness industry. From a young age I looked at entrepreneurs in awe, thinking “I don’t understand how they live with the pressure of generating business without the security of a steady paycheck”. My social programming was to play it safe with all the benefits of working for someone else. It became apparent where all that programming came from when I decided to take a risk and leave my career. I was met with fear and concern from those around me. Lucky for me, I had aligned with myself enough through yoga and meditation at that point to trust the inner voice that was guiding me to expand. As soon as I took the risk, I started to truly understand how people thrive when branching out and running their own businesses. It is the whirlwind that everyone warned me it would be, but even more so wonderful and deeply fulfilling. When you’re aligned with your soul’s calling and sharing your intrinsic gifts, joy and prosperity follow you. In the past, I’ve described my career transition as one that I simply couldn’t say no to; however, at some point I realized that to be a disservice to the listener. Many people do say no to their calling. They do choose safety over risk. They never have the opportunity to know what might have been. They settle. I could’ve said no, too, but I didn’t. I hope you don’t either. Now more than ever, the world needs your unique gift.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Chateau Singh wellness offers spiritual retreats, trainings, workshops, energy healing, and spiritual coaching. We curate experiences that extract the most potent esoteric teachings and distill them into applicable practices to enhance your life. As the creator, my mission statement is simple: I give you an experience of yourSelf. Yes, capital “S”. I find that most people just need a little help uncovering their own greatness. There’s nothing more rewarding or exciting than empowering someone to step into their greater destiny. Power Peace Jewels, a company formed with myself, jewelry designer Andrea Groussman, and life coach Peter Ishkhans, aims to support people on that journey toward self empowerment. A collaborative process that includes private virtual sessions with each of us results in a custom made talisman holding the vibration of your deepest intention. Seeing the final product and watching how these necklaces change people’s lives is truly magnificent. Mansion of the Heart University, formed with Love Guru Hillary Faye, offers a “Healer – Teacher – Coach” certification program for those seeking to share their spiritual gifts with the world in a higher capacity. The ripple effect of courses like this is incomprehensible. It’s our greatest joy to witness transformation that leads to the transformation of the world. Since embarking on this journey, I’ve had to learn to surrender. In a world that values control, calculated planning, deadlines, and logic, it’s not always easy. The ease returns when I remember that everything I’m doing is so much bigger than me, as are the forces guiding it. I hope that my story can inspire others to jump into the river of life and allow it to carry them in the direction of destiny.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
LA has some of the best health food restaurants in the world. We’d definitely have to hit up Power Plant, Green Table Cafe, Sage Bistro, Cafe Gratitude, Crossroads Kitchen, and Moon Juice. My version of happy hour is the tonic bar at Dragon Herbs. A visit to LA is incomplete without going on a few incredible hikes. Topanga Canyon, Temescal Canyon, and Griffith Park are some of my favorites. I’m often happiest when I’m in or on water, so I’d have to take them to the Marina and rent a boat for a few hours, followed by a walk through the Venice canals. I’m a huge fan of artists, so I always love visiting the Silver Lake / Echo Park area to meet inspiring, creative people as well.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m deeply grateful for the teachings of Paramahansa Yoganada & the Self Realization Fellowship, Guru Singh & the teachings of Kundalini Yoga, Don Miguel Ruiz & “The Four Agreements”, and all the Angels watching over us.
