I most certainly do have a budget! My budget was implemented in 2010 I wouldn’t be able to survive without one. Understanding budgeting and personal finance is my passion and I love to assist others in this area .My spending decisions are based on the general understanding that we all should have, at minimum, all the things that we absolutely need and just some of what we may want. What do I mean? We all may want a luxury vehicle but we may only need a compact car whose gas mileage is cost effective. Most of us want to travel abroad on a monthly but maybe all we need is a daycation or a quick road trip to unwind. When you are on a budget, you have to live simply until you have reached your desired financial goal. In actuality, everyone has a budget. It’s simply a matter of having an active or passive role in your budget. After a decade of suffering I finally gained some financial literacy in my late twenties. In the wake of that period I came to understand financial competency as a movement for equality. Men are taught that seeking wealth and valuing money is ambitious, honorable and tied directly to masculinity. Women are taught that seeking wealth and valuing money is shallow; and, core feminine values are empathy, caregiving and relationships. Yes as a business owner and as a woman I do have a budget with a goal in mind to invest and save most of my income after I pay my expenses and bills. Once I have taken care of those priority I also invest In my looks and clothes now. Although it does not have a literal ROI but it does help me feel more confident to create more content and be creative. One thing I’m currently struggling on when it comes to my jewelry brand is figuring out which business investment and expense to spend on but overtime I’m learning how to make these diffucult decision to grow and scale the business.
