We had the good fortune of connecting with Tara Nesbitt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tara, how do you think about risk?
I think about risks as being just another part of a business venture or stepping stones towards meeting your life goals. All people, whether business owners or not, take risks; everyday. When your intent is to risk more for an even greater gain, then usually there’s a very important lesson in the journey and you’re content with whatever the outcome may be because is was intentional. Taking risks pertaining to both my life and career, has been rewarding overall. Without some risks, I probably would have still been stagnant or not as successful as I am now.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Currently I serve as an Adjunct Faculty Instructor as well as Tutor GRE Prep classes for college students. What sets me apart from others is that I incorporate education into EVERYTHING that I do with the intent to teach in whatever way I can. I learn from others too by listening and offering any assistance through networking and professional connection. I have gotten to where I am today, professionally, by being consistent. Even when there were times when I was “counted out” or contemplated “giving up” on my professional goals, I still pushed forward and remained consistent. Nothing worth having is easy and if it’s too easy then, it’s not worth it. I find that I overcome most challenges by viewing them as obstacles in boot camp. Boot camp is designed to make one stronger while also becoming mentally sound. I tend to put myself in the category of being mentally sound and when I successfully overcome a challenge, I am usually rewarded with more confidence and integrity. There have been MANY lessons that I’ve learned along the way but one in particular is that whatever I is that I have set out to do, I MUST have my mind made up. Wavering from what I plan to do, or procrastination will cause me to become distracted. Even if I multi-task and do several things at once, I have made up in my mind to do those things. Once a person makes up his or her mind to do something then most likely that idea will manifest. I would like to world to know me more as an Educator who’s trying to completely evolve as a well rounded person. I’m a very down to earth and modest person but I am open to exploring my creative side. There is so much more to me than just sitting behind a desk and teaching. My creativity has been expressed through teaching and learning, and unique art.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
If my best friend was visiting the area now….well, she would be social distancing right along with me. Instead of us going somewhere, I would cook dinner and we’d sit around watching Netflix and drinking Blueberry Wine from the Chaumette Winery. I am an avid traveler and one thing that I can’t wait to do is visit the Caribbean Islands. If I had a week’s time, along with my bestie, we would visit the island of Eleuthera (Island in the Bahamas). There, we would bask in the sun and completely relax on the beach. The sand has a pinkish tint and reflects a pristine sparkle off the crystal, clear ocean. In my view, some of the most interesting and exciting places to check out is anywhere in the world that takes you out of your comfort zone. This place MUST be exciting though and safe. I recommend anywhere where you can connect with nature and reality. Somewhere where reality is not taken for granted and just the travel in itself can make you more appreciative of the life you have.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well, I would like to dedicate my “Shoutout” to two of the obvious, my parents, Anthony and Pamela Nesbitt. Without them, I would not exist. Existing is half the battle. Another person that I would love to “shoutout” is Melanie Perry-Chism. She thought of me originally and sent me the information for Voyage L.A. She saw something in my art worth mentioning.
