I think being consistent and being open to trying and learning new things has helped me succeed. There is nothing wrong with not knowing everything, no one expects you to, it’s good to practice patience and remind yourself over time that the knowledge will come and benefit you soon! Growing up, I got to watch my dad interact with people and over the years realized there was a lot intentional he did to make sure he was able to listen, remember, and connect with just about everyone. We love to glamorize this idea of a “random connection” but in reality most great connections I’ve made have been with some serious thought behind them, research before meeting that person, and writing a lot of notes when I can to make sure I remember details about that person. I chant Nam Myoho Renge Kyo morning and evening and practice with the SGI (Soka Gakkai International), which helps me win over my negative tendencies and self-beliefs.
