Our city is home to so many incredible businesses and so we asked the founders how they came up with the ideas for their businesses and have shared their responses below.

Charcu.tori was the first actual business venture that came into fruition. I always admired food styling, and the idea of putting my creativity into something that could bring joy to others really helped guide me to starting this business. I used to work with girls who had been in and out of juvenile hall due to sex trafficking. One of my students approached me for help finding resources in the community to transition into society without having to return to sex trafficking to survive. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find resources that addressed emotional and character well-being while promoting financial independence through career training (not job training) for the girls I worked with. This is a fun one! If you were to tell me ten years ago where my life was at today, I wouldn’t have believed you. I didn’t think I would be doing something that I absolutely love and that is so not the norm. I started out in the medical field as a nurse in the hospital working long hours and just beginning a family. After about 10 years of working, I was diagnosed with an illness that required life-long treatment and for me to step away from nursing. Read more>>

The concept for my brand came from my own personal need for the product as a mom of 3! Maternity and Nursing Bras were nor a popular item to shop for and they never had much style to them. I had my first baby in 2016, and quickly realized the selection of bras for new moms was terrible. After having my 2nd baby in 2019, I had enough of trying to make unattractive poor quality bras work for nursing and pumping! Read more>>
