Tim Nasimul | Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tim Nasimul and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tim, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most successful factor behind the success of my brand is thinking of the customer first. Customers are what make up a business. If they are not satisfied you are not going to have a brand that will be able to survive and grow. Once I changed my mindset from thinking of the business first and instead focused on what value I’m providing to our customer and society, everything started to change. My goal is not to simply satisfy our customers, but over deliver. When you focus on over delivery you not only satisfy the customer, but then grow your business because of all the friends and family that they will refer you to. That means if there is ever a concern, we respond right away. We don’t give customers a hard time, yet try to be as much of a resource to them as possible. Once you adopt the mentality that is not all about you and your business, you will be able to see the bigger picture and see what impact you are truly making in your customer’s lives. Another factor that I have focused on is building a brand that gives back to society through helping non-profits and rescues. For example, recently we teamed up with our network to helped raise money for Meals on Wheels to provide seniors with meals delivered straight to their door step. Especially now, with the pandemic going on, it is more important than ever to help in anyway you can. Use the resources you have to make a difference. Changing my mindset to focus on being a value to our customers and society is what has helped me in building by business from beyond a product, but into a brand that people love.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Chill Paws is the brand I started about a year ago. We are a pet company that has started off with a focus on pet CBD. What sets us apart from others has been the focus on providing value to our customers. With so many CBD products out there, I saw that there is a missing space within the industry that focuses solely on pets. Further, I have not found a fun and millennial friendly brand. When I was researching what was out there, I’ve seen many products that are overpriced, don’t do their due diligence in insuring high quality (with lack of lab results), and overall just bland product design that look like medicine. We do our best to provide value in bringing the costs down as much as possible for our customers so that they are able to try CBD for their pets. Further, we have provided other benefits such as free shipping within the US, an educational section where customers can learn more about pet CBD and the industry, and providing the best customer service we can to over deliver to our customers. This has not been an easy road. With a new business, especially in a new industry, there are many challenges to overcome. However, once you start, you will begin to learn about what works and doesn’t work. The key is learning from your mistakes and adjusting. I’ve learned something new daily and have been able to adjust accordingly to satisfy customers concerns and expectations to improve their experience. Also, thinking outside the box is key. It’s not only important to see what your competitors are doing, but also what they are not doing, to be able to serve customers better.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When anyone comes to visit me, I always try to show them a good time in Santa Monica. I would take them to grab a drink at the local hotels and lounges and enjoy the best views of the beach and pier. There are also some nice views in Venice as well. Most of the people who have visited have also had a fun time checking out 3rd street out here with all the shopping, restaurants, performances by local artists, and vendors. Of course, checking out the pier is a must as well.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve been very fortunate to have a very strong and supportive network of friends and family. I keep my circle very small. These have been the people who have been with me through the ups and downs and have helped me stay sane through the process of building my brand. Each one of these key people in my circle of friends has given me their advice and experiences with their own companies and skillsets that they have build throughout their journeys. One of the most inspirational figures in my journey has been my brother. He has the most focus and dedication from any person that I have ever met. He has already been through this journey I’m going through a number of times in different industries. Through those processes, I have been able to learn through his experiences of what to do and not to do when building a successful brand. My parents have always been supportive as well. Though they may have not agreed with my decision to enter the entrepreneurial world because of the risk involved, they have always had my back. From them, I learned the importance of value and putting others first, which is what I am now applying to my company.
