We had the good fortune of connecting with Ariel Velez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ariel, what are you inspired by?
I’ve been inspired by life situations that helps me be more creative with my lyrics. Some of the things that inspires me also includes art, my personal story, music from different artist and genres.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art has always been music, however, the way I got to this point of rapping is my life story. The difference between me and other artist is that I don’t strive to curse in my music, however, I do try to make an impact through my positive lyrics. I know what it’s like to be depressed with suicidal thoughts. I recognized and most proud of is that I overcame that hurt with God, my family, and a loving fiancée. Overcoming these battles it was not an easy task, it took about 10 years to get over these type of thoughts. Facing myself was so difficult, I hated looking myself in the mirror. Through the power of love and understanding I got out of my situation, nothing was over night but I eventually did. Many of the lessons I learned was not to give up, chase your dreams, understanding and listening to those who have the best interest at heart for you. My brand and story is for many people who feels like there is no way out, there is way. You just have to believe and find your own outlet. It could be therapy, a stranger, and friends. Just know you are not alone in your journey. We all have struggles and pain its just how you deal with it, will determine your outcome. We are human this is what Ariel Velez stands for.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where everybody knows everybody, its a small town but continues to grow at a rapid pace. Some of the places I would take my best friend to would be Dorney Park where we can enjoy the water park and rides. I would take them to see a baseball game, and also a concerts at the PPL center. I’ll bring them to some of my favorite food places, Lee’s Hoagies, The Vineyard for good Italian food, and some great Spanish restaurants.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Some of the people I want to thank is God, my family, and Eddie Torres for referring me to this platform, and also Richie Pena for being the musical genius and being a patient engineer.
