We had the good fortune of connecting with Cristin Dent and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cristin, is there something you believe many others might not?
“If you build it they will come!” Although this may sound like encouragement, this is not true!

It’s not, if you build it they will come, it’s if you build it, market it, and advertise it, then they will come. As much as you want to create some thing, it is important to have marketing and advertising in place to the people that actually need a solution to the problem that you solve. When you are a business owner, entrepreneur, or influencer, you provide solutions, not selling items that you like personally.

Marketing and advertising requires you to have a plan, it requires you to be disciplined, and it requires you to showcase your process. I became an entrepreneur while I was in college, so I was able to develop a following by showing my process on campus, making announcements, performing, but when I built some thing, I did not get the customers that I thought I would get. That’s because a lot of the people who were following me, we’re not my customers, they were just inspired.

They were family members, friends, and people who enjoyed my poetry, but they were not my target audience of young adults who need to recover from relationships. What a 21-year-old needs to learn about relationships, is different from a 43-year-old divorced uncle. So I started to get frustrated thinking that “I built it and nobody came”, but I had to learn that I had to elevate my marketing and advertising to my target population.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

My business, is a solution to anyone who has never taken the time to recover from a relationship. My business is a solution to penetrate the heart, mind, and soul of every fragmented person seeking refuge from a lover who never loved them in the first place. My business is a solution to everyone who has gone through a break up , and started breaking down and no one taught them how to love themselves and how to love a partner. My business is a solution for anyone who is trying to get over someone, by getting under someone else. My business is a solution for anyone who grew up in broken households with parents who couldn’t love them and protect them properly. My business is for anyone who wants to learn how to be in a healthy relationship and keep it that way.

I teach people about relationship recovery, through practical therapy, forgiveness, spiritual penetration, and psychology God’s way.

The type of therapy that I do, is so that people do not have to keep coming back, so they are not dependent on me, so that they have the tools that they need to pull out at any time and continuously live their life. I have learned that some therapeutic practices, want clients to keep coming back, and they never give them the mental and emotional exercises, so that they can get free and stay free.

Healing looks so good on you!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There’s some Amazing vegan and non-vegan restaurants like Stuff I Eat & Simply Wholesome, which has a holistic market for natural remedies to help balance your body. I would also take my friends to see Newport Beach, Manhattan Beach, Griffith Park, the Long Beach pike, and also expose them to the spoken word scene in LA. I would take my friends to eat at this great restaurant called Baja Sharkeez, it has a Hawaiian, Aztec, Type of vibe and the food is really good in the atmosphere of that place is really nice. Clearly I like to eat nice vegan food, so that’s where I’m taking people when they come to LA. I would also take them to the Hollywood Bowl, and hopefully hear a really nice concert outside in the amphitheater. Most importantly I will take them to my home, so that they would feel loved and welcomed, and leave my house better than when they first arrived to LA.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My success, work ethic, and impact, requires a shout out to my parents Dr. & Mrs. Dent. I am an extension of them, and it is their foundation of love and safety that has allowed me to not only dream , but to execute. I also need to give a huge shout out to my extended family, who let me live with them after I graduated college and was trying to find my way.

A big thank you to Sivonnia DeBarros for being such an asset to my network and believing in me and spreading the word of the impact that I have, in building business and brands.

A huge shout out to my acting professor at CSULB, Hugh, who introduced me to books that could change the game for me like, The Inner Game of Tennis. One of the biggest shout outs is to the book that change my life forever, that allowed me to learn about psychology and relationships and spiritual warfare, The Dangers of Being Gullible.
