We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamal Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamal, how do you think about risk?
He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life. Muhammad Ali

My entire journey has been built off of risk-taking. I took a risk in deciding to go to Rochester, New York to pursue my passion for music at the Eastman School of Music instead of staying home and attending college in my home state of Georgia. I took a risk in joining a completely new a cappella group after college because my friends and I decided that we wanted to go experience the world together. We were passionate about meeting and exchanging cultures and ideas with people all over the world. Lastly, I took a risk in moving to Los Angeles in 2017 to pursue my solo career full time and that led me to opportunities to collaborate with some of the greatest artists of all time from Beyonce to Kanye West. My journey has been fueled by my faith in God, belief in my abilities, and risk-taking.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe what sets me apart from others is my versatility. My goal has been and still is to be one of the most versatile artists ever. To be respected and nominated in several genres by the recording academy. My next project will definitely showcase my versatility a bit more. I’m excited about the music that is to come. I’m currently working on my completely original project

I got to where I am today with my faith in God, belief in my abilities, and my family. Things can be tough at times, but I can lean on any of the three of those to keep me pushing through. It definitely has not been easy, but nothing worth having is.

I have overcome challenges by confronting them head-on. Not allowing them to linger so that a solution can be found sooner rather than later.

One of the major lessons I learned was within my first year of being in LA. Be ready at all times. Look the part, give your all to every opportunity, and make sure you leave a great impression on people personality-wise. If you are cool to be around and you always deliver when called upon, you will continue to succeed.

My brand will bring people of all ages together. It is genre-bending. It is an experience that will shake the world one note at a time.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Start off at a cafe in Larchmont

Stroll down Melrose and pop into a variety of eateries and shops.

City Walk

Dockweiler Beach – Sunset

Mama’s Shelter for Food/Drinks (Rooftop)

Find some live music to conclude the night

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Evelyn Ellis, James Dunaway, & Jan Opalach

These are the three teachers that nurtured my musical abilities and encouraged me to dream big and chase them full force. They were all instrumental in my growth whether it was introducing me to various artists/composers or allowing me to explore and perform various styles so that I truly felt fulfilled musically. I would not be the man or musician I am today without their guidance.
