We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharron Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sharron, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My favorite is “We are the Hero of our own Story”.
This quote has stood out to me the first moment I read it. For me it defines not allowing anyone, anything, nor my own self getting in the way of telling my story all for myself. There is a lack of ownership most people choose to walk down, so that the endless excuses of life can manipulate them in to not even attempting to create their own stories. The question one must manifest to themselves is do YOU define YOU or someone else?
What I like about this quote is that it empowered to me keep being my own Hero. Not having any cheerleaders in my life as a child always kept me in state of always pleasing others only to be torn down in the end. I looked for others approval, love, applaud while standing in a state of nervousness waiting; always being disappointed. One day, the blinders came off forcing me to peel back my own layers; owning/defining who I am as a woman/mother/human being/artist.. Really liking who I had become, then learning to Love what I had become and Loving myself. I AM a Hero! I AM the Hero of my own Story. Don’t care nor choose to define some else.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Singer/Songwriter based in my hometown of Los Angeles (born and raised). I am proud to be a female entertainer within the Blues category that doesn’t fit the norm for what I’m supposed to look like. Tall slender Fit with a powerful voice, I’ve been told I don’t look like how I sound LOL.
My confidence along with stage fright has inhibited me a little but, I like a good challenge. I simply just tell myself this is “your” journey, you can do it! Self pep talk.. Then I walk out to perform. I’ve learned that the only person getting in my way is myself, I work on this daily. It’s like I put my own tatoo on my Tush saying keep on moving. World watch out! Because I’m coming promoting music, sexy, fun all with a little Bayou Blues in your soul.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend visited me it would be planned such as the following: day 1 – Relaxation and catching up on life..
day 2 – Hermosa beach laying out in the sun, we would pack a lunch, have music and just enjoy the smell of the ocean and laugh.
day 3 – Huntington Libraries and gardens. We would eat there coming home to little light rooftop appetizers.
day 4 -6 Catalina Island – we would take the ferry over to the Island staying in a little BnB. walking up the hiking trail behind the wrigley house, then coming home for beer and $2.00 tacos at the sand trap. Lots of laying on the beach
(I enjoy cooking especially for friends, we would be eating at home a great deal..
Then they are off
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Aunt Theresa was my rock! Words cannot describe how grateful I am to have had you as my mentor, support and guider through a difficult childhood full of abuse.
I could write an Epic novel about you but instead I’m simply going to say Thank you and I Love you with all my heart. You alone tamed the angry child with words of Love.
