We had the good fortune of connecting with SE YOUNG and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi SE YOUNG, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
To me there is no going to give up… Of course, everyone has doubt in their mind it’s part of human nature & instinct. However, when the motive is your family you don’t really have a choice. That doubt is what really keeps me going because I use it to motivate myself.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well I make R&B music. I’ve been working on my first project EP.. no title yet but just really going to take my time. It’s bout 50% complete. It’s going to showcase who SE YOUNG really is as an artist. I’ve always had trouble getting over the doubt factor: if I do this.. what would other people think? Things like that.. but this year in particular I dropped out of college to pursue this full time. Ive got good people & good energy around me and as of now I feel great and ready to put my all into the sound. You can only overcome if you face the challenge. Even if you fail you will learn something out of it. Why you failed, why it went wrong. When I drop this project I want to show everyone I really do this fo reall

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Vancouver is a beautiful city.. lot of scenery, good food, & fresh air. I’m pretty basic when it come to restraunts I’m pretty basic: I enjoy Mexican & Indian food. However I’d take my guy to Kobe steakhouse for sure. Fun things to do.. definitely the English bag beach and Granville is the spot to be if you tryna have a good time. Tbh I really just be home or in the studio

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First my mother she the greatest… nobody can compare. And honestly anybody whose been part of my journey of life. I’m still young and everyday I keep growing, learning and changing. I take the good with the bad. If there’s no obstacle in your life you will never learn so even though a part of me is still insecure I’m not afraid to make mistakes as I look back there’s always been something to learn from.
