We had the good fortune of connecting with Matthew Spangler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Matthew, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
In service of our community, we teach personal development tools for optimizing health, expanding self-awareness, and exploring what’s truly possible. We teach our clients how to naturally calm their active minds and deeply rest their tired bodies. We support others in the process of feeling better naturally and sustainably; To release the accumulated stress of the past and embody the next best version of themselves. We empower our clients to actively participate in their own evolution and guide them into self-sufficiency using these tools.

Through meditation, breathwork, and yoga, we optimize the state of our client’s mind and body. We teach them how to release their accumulated stress and support them to progressively embody their natural state of wellness and joy. Through personal development coaching, they create a clear and exciting vision for their future. They execute on that vision with the support of their coach, using sustainable strategies, specific actions plans, and heart-centered accountability.

Consider that our nervous systems absorb the emotional and energetic weight of our life experiences. Most modern humans are living high-demand, fast-paced lifestyles. This perpetual hyperstimulation, without sufficient relief, leaves us depleted and operating at a fraction of our capacity. If we don’t take time to slow down, release the internal weight, and connect with ourselves on a deeper level… negative consequences inevitably creep in. Poor health, ‘bad’ behavior, life stagnation, drama, and conflict-ridden relationships… to name a few.

We show our clients how to shift away from the tumultuous, ever-changing world and bask in the stability of the deeper layers of their own consciousness. This has a powerfully rejuvinating effect on mind, body, and soul. It’s like hitting the ‘refresh’ button, from the inside out. It’s taking a vacation, without going anywhere. As you consistently honor yourself with these inner vacations, you are empowered to show up effectively, lovingly, and mindfully in your life. We take ‘time out’ so we can show up more fully and more authentically during our ‘time in’. This is the conversation we’re having with our clients, in service of their well-being and continued growth.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are a Los Angeles-based meditation and personal development center, serving students locally and globally. We offer a variety of professional services, in service of our client’s well-being and personal growth. Our tools are designed for everyone, beginners and experienced practitioners alike. These include Vedic meditation, guided meditation, mindfulness training, yoga, pranayama, breathwork, and life coaching!

We offer comprehensive integrations of expert instruction, community connection, and ongoing support. Learning a technique/applying a new behavior is the beginning of a new path. Integrating and sustaining the value of that new direction is best served when others are walking with us. With the guidance of an expert teacher and the accountability of fellow practitioners, we set ourselves up to win in the ways that matter most. Our community is full of incredible people who are committed to cultivating the best within themselves. Our souls stir for something substantial, something sustainable, and something True. Our business supports the community in cultivating this.

I discovered Meditation in 2004 in the wake of a life-rattling panic attack. I knew very little of meditation at the time. I knew that I was suffering, feeling anxious and off, so I decided to give it a shot. With consistency over time, I was amazed to find the grip of my anxiety release. With my practice as my anchor, I grew into a new person and discovered new depths to life. Sometimes the darkest places become the catalyst for our necessary awakenings. This is true of my story. Sixteen years later, my personal development practices continue to be the lifeline of my inner joy and outer success. It is now my passion and purpose to share these personal development tools with others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Los Angeles is rich for its breadth and diversity. We have the beach, we have the mountains, we have the desert, we have people of all types and from all walks of life. Most major cultures are represented here, in some form or another. If I was hosting my friend from out of town, I would prioritize honoring this variety. One day we would hit the beach and another, snowboarding! One day we would visit a meditation & yoga retreat center, the next we would catch a concert at the Hollywood Bowl. I would highlight our eclectic cuisine options, offering special attention to the local standouts, Thai and Mexican. Magic Mountain is 30 minutes outside the city so that’s definitely in the cards. I love sports and we are the city of champions, so we’re also going to a Dodgers/Lakers/Rams/USC game. Lastly, Mother Nature must be included. There are so many beautiful hiking trails and parks to explore in the city of angels. I particularly enjoy walking up to the Griffith Observatory and looking out upon the city. This is the spot for ocean views and glorious sunsets. Namasté.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Major shoutout to the Fam! They are angels dressed as humans. My Mom, my Dad, and my two Brothers. They have consistently demonstrated unconditional love and unwavering support throughout my life. They have integrity, they work hard, they are fun to be around, and they care deeply for others. I am profoundly impacted by and forever grateful for my family. This Shoutout is for my family. You inspire me to be the best I can be, thank you <3
