We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew James and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrew, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
As a band in 2022 and as in years before, you really have to be your own manager , label, tech guy, booking agent, engineer/ producer ..music is the easy part…so we just thought we may as well throw business owner into the mix just to top it off. Obviously having full control over everything you make makes sense and especially as you’ve covered all the ground work in the job titles above.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
My band VEERS has pretty much stuck to our English style of rock and roll songwriting and never swayed to anyone else’s taste to try and “make it”. I’m not gonna say “sell out” cos what does that mean anyway…seems like anyone that gets any success is labeled that, but I’m glad we’ve been persistent and stuck to our roots . There’s been and will be some tough obstacles ahead but our way of thinking is mostly just to cross that bridge when It comes , people and things fall through all the time so it’s pointless worrying about them and all we can do is learn from the past ..mistakes we’ve made with videos , releasing songs and how we do it etc .

It’s definitely not easy but if it was everyone would be doing it wouldn’t they, that’s maybe the oldest saying ever ….the only way we’ve overcome challenges is persistence / confidence and communication …then mixed with a few drinks ..then the truth comes out and that’s that haha , good or bad it’s all off the chest.

What do I want the world to know about my art ? And story ???? Wow..idk , you’ll have come see us at show ..then you’ll know.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m from London but the band and I are based here in Los Angeles ..this is an easy question to answer …

El compadre!!!!!! El compadre is my favorite bar in a America …hands down..the amount of times I’ve walked in and crawled out of that place crying of laughter is in the millions.
Also anything that resembles a good old english pub like back home.

As for food …I live in a neighborhood called Monterey park , just east of downtown..there’s a place called Northern Cafe…the best noodles , Spicy wontons and pho around.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I don’t really have any one person I’d like to give a shout-out to ….all the people that have come to see and support us , our label Merrill Artists, maybe I’d pat ourselves on the back as we’ve worked so hard. I guess as cheesy as it sounds I’d like to thank all the hardworking bands that graft everyday at some crap job and have to put up with peoples bullshit just to earn enough money to keep rehearsing /playing shows/ putting gas in the tank. Being a musician is expensive, guitars are expensive…getting shows and dealing with lazy promoters is a hard thing to deal with on a regular basis. So thanks to all the bands out there that are doing the do. Nice one .
