Meet Mark Allen Felton | Musician/Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mark Allen Felton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mark Allen, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is that I always believed in myself. No matter what adverse situations that may have appeared, I never let go the belief in myself. I was always under the thought process of, if you don’t believe in yourself, then nobody would believe in you. That type of thinking, has helped me stay the course, in the pursuit of me achieving my dreams.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love all types of creativity, I really do. When I was growing up I decided to focus on music, but I think my biggest gift is that whatever I decide to achieve I can pretty much accomplish. I think what sets me apart is that when it comes to music I’m not locked into a particular genre. I just like good music, and it tends to influence how my own music sounds. My music has all types of influences within it, something I have dubbed Hipstrumentals.
I get pretty excited when it comes to creativity. I think so, because it’s really amazing how many things we can do, especially using technology, it’s incredible.
As far as what it took for me to get to where I am today, I think the main thing has been perseverance. In life there are a lot of obstacles that can seem to stand in your way, but you have to persevere. You have to be determined about what it is that you want to achieve and let nothing stop you. It’s not gonna be easy, and no matter how far you get, you’re going to always be striving to go further.
One of the mindsets that helped me along the way is when I realized that the material things of this world are merely tools that help us with our various experiences that we have on this planet. Experiences that shape our human and spiritual growth. For example, my instrument is a tool that I use for my musical expression. By itself, it’s just a wonderfully designed piece of metal, but when I blow into it in a specific way, it produces beautiful music. That tool has paved the way for me to have many experiences that I probably wouldn’t have had without it. What a wonderful tool!
It doesn’t stop there, there are tools for every profession in life and life itself. They are there for our use, we must use them wisely.
In my life’s journey, I’ve had so many wonderful lessons that have shaped me as a human being. Just to name a few:
1. Be kind to one another
2. Avoid petty arguments at all costs, they produce stress they can be very harmful, and no one needs that.
3. If you have something that you want to do in life, then go for it. Don’t let anyone persuade you from pursuing your dreams.
4. Be a giver – giving is receiving in reverse.
5. No man is an island, we all need someone to help us achieve our dreams.
6. Work on what you want to achieve. I’ve seen many people who want the reward, but don’t want to put in the work. Put in the work!
Those are just a few life lessons I learned along the way, but there are plenty more.
I want the world to know that if you stay focused on achieving your dreams, then it can happen. You may or may not get exactly what you want, but I do believe you can get some version of it. And also, enjoy your moments. Every moment is valuable. Go for what you’re passionate about. We all possess a fire inside of us, we just need to ignite it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to town and I wanted to show them a good time we would definitely head over to Universal Studios in Hollywood and get the fast track pass and enjoy all the rides. To keep it real, I’m sure we would pick up a few groceries from Whole Foods that would last us for the week.
That wouldn’t be the only thing we eat, throughout the week, we would grab a bite from Tocayas (Mexican Restaurant), Ackee Bamboo (Jamaican Restaurant), and I will take him over to in N out Burger, because he loves their food. We would also make it over to Regal LA Live & 4DX movie theatre for a great 4D movie experience. The trip wouldn’t be complete without spending some time on Venice Beach, Hollywood Walk of Fame, just people watching along would be too much fun! In addition, we would hang out with some friends.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My story is full of so many people that deserve a shoutout! My parents, friends, teachers, etc. have had such a great impact on my life and career, if I began to name people I’m sure I would miss someone. I love you all!
