We had the good fortune of connecting with TAJLA and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi TAJLA, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have always been a creative person. But since the age of 6 specifically I chose to take singing lessons which eventually turned into me writing my own music, performing at competitions, festivals and performing shows. I then learnt musical instruments which eventually led to me producing most of my original music. Music is the one outlet I feel I can express myself freely and without constrains. It is what I’m most passionate about, and I truly cannot see my life without music being a part of it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The creative field… entertainment industry specifically is one of the most difficult industries to gain traction in. But it all boils down to how hungry you are for it. I have been chasing this dream since I was 6 years old. I am 24 now and there is no sign of giving up. I have been creating music for a very long time and have recently moved to Los Angeles from Melbourne, Australia due to the endless opportunities I have come across. I’m only just getting started in releasing my own music but I have so much belief in myself and I think the number 1 thing that’s kept me pushing is having an incredible support system of family and friends around me who never fail to show their belief in me. I have learnt to do a lot of it myself such as writing my own music, producing, recording it and recently directing & editing my first music video ‘SSP’ which drops on the 29th of April 2022.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I still have so much more exploring to do of Los Angeles myself. But I adore being out in nature. Every time I’ve had friends come here, the first place I take them is up to is the Hollywood sign. It’s such a nice hike and the view of the entire city is mesmerising. Runyon and Griffith are places I frequent. I don’t go out too much as I’m very much an introvert but West Hollywood is the place to BE on weekends. Nightingale specifically is one of my favourite spots to go out on Saturdays and then visiting the Hollywood Farmers Market on Sundays.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank my mother the most for the ongoing support and dedication she has had for me since I started this journey. She has always been my number 1 fan and I’m so eternally grateful for her. I would like to also thank everyone who has believed in me throughout this journey whether you were here from the start or found me later on. I wouldn’t be doing what I do if it weren’t for the constant belief, support and love I am shown every single day. So thank you! I hope to make you all proud.
