We had the good fortune of connecting with Alyssia Janae and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alyssia, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I started my business in the midst of the Pandemic. I had to switch to working virtually for my part-time and noticed I had a lot of time on my hands. Naturally, because of COVID, I made the conscious decision of living a more holistic life; watching my eating habits, finding myself in meditation and practicing yoga and supplying my own everyday supplies so that I wouldn’t have to keep going back outside for essentials. I begin creating natural, organic skin care products such as Face wash, sugar scrubs and deodorant. I then furthered my research and expanded my creative efforts in creating my own supply of sea moss and natural detoxes for the body to achieve optimal health. My family and loved ones saw my creations and became interested in what I had to offer and Goddessish became an entity. Outside of family and friends, others started recognizing y talents and wanted to support and I’ve been in business ever since.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Holistic Goddessish, LLC was created in 2020 in the midst of the Pandemic. It started small with just me creating everyday essential skin care items and holistic dietary supplements such as sea moss and detoxes. Goddessish has since then expanded to offering multiple Holistic Wellness services such as coaching, reiki healing and soon doula services. I pride myself in making sure that my business has everything my community needs in the most efficient, effective and holistic way. I am most proud of my growth as a business owner and through trial and error I am becoming the best in what I do on the daily basis. I am my business and I am my brand, when my clients see me they know that whatever they need I will try my best to provide and if I can’t I offer necessary resources to give them what they need. Starting Holistic Goddessish was not easy, having to time manage between a 9-5, other networks and organizations and my business has been challenging to say the least but not impossible. I find myself constantly being in a state of self awareness and determination. I understand my mission is greater than I am and that keeps me going, every time a client is satisfied with a product or service that fuels me to do more and be more for not just myself, but for them as well. An important lesson that I’ve been learning while running a business is that you get what you put in; the work, the time and energy, the money… universal reciprocity is a real thing and when you understand that concept with the law of attraction, there is no limit – anything is possible! Another lesson that I’ve learned to correspond with the previous one is that REST IS ESSENTIAL, especially if you’re the only one working for your business. Its beautiful to execute the work, but you wont be able to executive effectively unless you rest well and give yourself grace to do so. I want the world to understand that the mission of Holistic Goddessish, LLC is to assist you in healing yourself in order to find and honor your true Divinity. Know that Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder and that wellness starts with you surrendering to the divinity within yourself. No one can tell you how to be beautiful, how to be healthy, or how to be happy – however I can and will share with you my personal Holistic Healing experience and guide you through your own.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I reside in Baltimore city, the best place for anyone who loves the Arts and culture. There are many things to try and do here:
You can visit Baltimore Museum of Art, Walters Art Museum and the American Visionary Art Museum!
As for Parks and Recreation, Patapsco sate park is a staple.
A great place for hiking would be Annapolis Rock via The Appalachian Trail.
As for food, some of my favorite places to eat are in the inner city such as the Rusty Scupper in the downtown Harbor area, which is an amazing seafood restaurant on the water.
There are tons of bars and marketplaces for the best food: Mt Vernon Market Place is my favorite!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout my Family and my Soul Tribe. My family which includes My mother, father and 4 siblings have been supportive of every endeavor that I take on, they continue to be my biggest cheerleaders and have never let me down. They are always there to catch me when I fall, and push me when I need momentum. I would also like to shout out my Soul Tribe, these are the individuals who share kindred spirits with me. Throughout my entire journey, my tribe has been with me through every transition, through every disappointment, break and successes. I would not be who I am without these loving, supportive energies around me. I am extremely grateful that I have been blessed with a support system that remains unconditional.
