Meet Kang Hui | Visualization Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kang Hui and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kang, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
As a father, I have learned a lot. I try my best to show a positive attitude in front of my kids to do what I like. I hope to be brave enough to do what I love and what I want positively. I am lucky person who I have a work that I want to do.
This makes me full of motivation every day, and more courage and confidence to face all difficulties. I really hope my kid can see how happy I am doing the work I love every day, and can also feel my positive mentality to solve problems. Maybe all this is incomprehensible to a baby who is still learning to speak. But in the future, when he asks me why I am so happy every day, I can tell him because I am doing what I like every day. And that’s what I learn from him. I feel like my kid taught me a lot more than I taught him. Every time I see him playing with his favorite toy, he shows a happy face. I know he’s happy because he’s doing what he wants to do the most.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a visualization artist. Visualization helps directors and supervisors turn their ideas into a visual world in film, television, game, VR, and themed attractions. It’s exciting to see the previs and postvis shots that I’ve worked on become the final pictures on the big screen. I was so lucky to be part of the production of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. I was so excited to see my name on the ending credit in a movie theater. When I just become a visualization artist, supervisors, and senior artists taught me an important lesson, Sharing knowledge. They are always willing to share all kinds of knowledge to help me solve the problems, and improved my skills. Then, I started to share what I know to help others, and I found that I was not only sharing knowledge, but also I learn new knowledge and discovering blind spots in my old knowledge. Sharing knowledge makes me continue to improve and learn. These supervisors and senior artists made me feel the happiness of sharing knowledge, and their help made my adventure easier.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I will definitely take my best friend to experience the traffic of the 101 freeway where I drive every work day. We can talk about our stories, new experiences, music, and future life when we are driving. I love food. So I will take him to my favorite restaurants in the town.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Of course, I have people to thank. I wouldn’t have what I have now without my family. My wife supports me to chase my dreams, my kid gives me great motivation, and my parents taught me how to have a happy life. So many people helped and taught me how to become a better person. All of them helped me get where I am now. I am apricated. I love watching all kinds of movies, the stories in them always give me all kinds of inspiration. There is a good movie, called The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Walter Mitty always has all kinds of bold fantasies. When Walter starts an adventure and realized, he realizes the fantasy dream might not be so far away. It made me understand that If I only have my fantasies and do nothing, it’s just an illusion, but If I try it, maybe it will be different
