We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimber Chronic and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimber, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Life is constantly one big risk. As a person living with trans experience, just walking outside is a risk in itself. My transgender brothers and sisters are getting killed almost on a daily basis. Which is why I don’t take one moment for granted. My life does not promise tomorrow, so I live for today! Every single pivotal point in my life has been served to me, with risk on the side. My transition, my music, love, passion for life….all, to me, are worth the risk. After all – no risk, no reward.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My music is an extension of who I am. I love very hard and very deep. Thats how I want you to feel when you hear my music. I often talk about the “Chronic” experience. Which to me, is digging as deep as possible within love, sex, acceptance and passion. It’s interesting, as I grow as an artist, I find that my music becomes less reckless and more anchored.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I was born in Las Vegas and if you didn’t know, that’s a dry ass desert, mama. The desert holds a very special place in my heart. I love to rent a place or go camping, bring my lover or a few close friends and spend some time away from everything. It helps me heal, refresh and recharge. Whether I’m writing a new song or just eating some good food, enjoying some Sauvignon blanc and basking under stars, I enjoy it to its fullest.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe a HUGE shoutout to my family. They have been by my side through the thick of it. My transition was a bit difficult at first. However, they came around with all the love and support I could ever ask for. They are my biggest fans with my music, constantly asking me about my next project. I send tracks I’m working on to my mom and my brother almost CONSTANTLY. Every single time they always come back with positive feedback in efforts to make it perfect.
