We had the good fortune of connecting with Trevor Franklin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Trevor, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I like to think about risk as an opportunity that most are not willing to take. in my life, risk is the only reason I am where im at today. When I decided to drop out of college and move to Nyc, I didn’t have a job lined up, I didn’t have a place to live or a lease signed, I didn’t have more than $5,000 to my name, and I didn’t know very many people… All I knew is that I was destined for big opportunities in my life and I would do whatever it took to make it happen.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
firs of all im so thankful that im able to pursue my passion and live my dream daily. I cannot begin to explain how grateful I am to have a job doing something I love and being surrounded by positive people. I believe what sets me apart is that im genuine and empathetic. I truly care about the people that have entrusted me with my fitness goals, and more often than not I have the ability to put myself in their shoes and understand where they are coming from. I’m most proud of doing all this on my own. My parents didn’t give me a ton of money, or buy me an apartment.. everything I’ve built today I did with time, dedication, and working my ass off. No one can take that away from me. What I would want the world to know about my story is that the best decision I ever made was pursuing my passion. Which I know everyone says… but I’ve worked jobs I didn’t care about, I’ve been fired from jobs I didn’t care about.. pursuing my passion and betting everything on that has led me to being a happier and more positive person in my daily life.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
every day would start with a morning workout at a different Nyc group fitness studio. I believe that the group fitness scene is unmatched in NYC when it comes to energy. Every morning would have a different breakfast spot. A few of my favs are Murrays bagels, RH rooftop, Citizens Chelsea, Charley street, BEC. then each day would have a different touristy spot. My list of favs are 9/11 memorial, The Edge, walk around the Hudson Yards area, Central Park, seaport area, and soho/ meatpacking shopping. lunch and dinner I would try to mix it up between the boroughs with a different restaurant in each. see at least 1 broadway show and hopefully a concert or game at Madison square garden!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
