We had the good fortune of connecting with Allie Messineo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allie, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Within reasonable measure, risk taking is actually essential to move forward with anything in life. Wether the risk is big or small, it’s how you approach it and tackle it head first that really matters. If you find yourself at a crossing point where taking a risk is actually an option for you, and the benefits that come with it will really help flourish your life or career, then I believe that’s exactly where you’re supposed to be, it’s taking the first leap that can be scary. Opportunities come into your life for a reason, and it’s really a magical thing when you can truly find those reasons and follow the guidance being put in front of you. As my balloon business has been taking off, I recently made the hard decision to leave my full time job and dive right into my business with everything I have to offer. I went back and forth between thinking I was crazy for making this decision financially, and then really smart to do so and spend more time with my daughters and give all my energy into something I really love doing, which would then bring back the financial stability and fulfill my family’s needs as well. Once I came to acceptance of my decision, so many doors started opening, and I realized the outcome really is going to be defined by my hard work and dedication after weighing the pros and cons from taking that risk. You’ll never know if you don’t try, and if you fail, the beautiful thing is you have a chance to get it right again. Life is way too short to stay in the same place day by day as years go by, and you’ll be wondering what if. I say go for it!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started this business for fun doing balloon installs for my daughters at home during the pandemic 2 years ago. Currently, I am now fulfilling it full time after leaving my office job of 6 years. When you’re in the same routine for years you just become used to it, and venturing out of that bubble has opened my eyes to so many opportunities and has shifted my perspective on my own life so much. It’s been a lot of hard work, hustle, and some ups and downs, but I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the amazing community of support, and loyal clients who truly make it feel like it’s not even work. I get the chance to meet so many new and amazing people, travel around the Los Angeles area, and create something different with each install or bouquet. I think the best part is not only do I delivery balloons for happy birthdays, or anniversaries, I’ve also delivered giant hearts to a cancer fighting warrior, super hero balloons to a real super hero kid who had open heart surgery, sonic balloons to a child who’s birthday was cancelled due to covid 2 years into this pandemic – it really really has a vast range of ways I can spread cheer to those who need it, and that is exactly who I am. This has been an amazing outlet for my creativity and also to give back to those around me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The Coffee Roaster for some coffee, Maya’s Brigadeiro, then Osteria LA Buca, all on Ventura Blvd, and I know all the owners who are lovely

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This one goes out to the class of 2022 (some graduating some not!) at the Maggy Haves School, who sent me on my way along this journey of mine with not only an Air Force 4 (wahoo!), but all the support and love I could ask for. Thank you xoxo
