We had the good fortune of connecting with Zoe Jade and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zoe, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I think that before all the tools, fan base and team, you ultimately have to believe in yourself and have confidence. You have to know that you will be successful. That positive attitude will keep you motivated and moving forward, even if you don’t have the right tools yet.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been performing since I was 10 so I’ve had a very unique experience of being part of the music industry from a very young age. Yes, it was in my home town but it still taught me a lot. I have grown up playing in rock bands and listening to rock music. I am a rocker at heart, yet I love pop, industrial and alt-pop. Going forward, I want to meld all these influences together and I feel like that sound really does set me apart. I am really drawn to dark and intense themes, musically and lyrically. I feel that dark themes can create an extreme sense of relatability for the listener. It’s been the dark, sad or intense artists in my life that have truly made me feel less alone and that is what I want to do for others. Ultimately I want to impact peoples lives. I strive to be very successful but I’m not in this industry for money and popularity.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I think seeing the venues on sunset is a good thing to do when visiting LA because there is a ton of history there. I recently went to a show at the Hollywood bowl though and that venue is incredible. I feel like everyone needs to see a show there at least once.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I could go on and on about all the people that have helped me to where I am. I started performing young so I really owe a lot to all the adult mentors I had in my home town as a teenager. I wouldn’t be the performer or artist I am without their guidance and influence from a young age. This includes music teachers, vocal instructors, musicians I jammed with live and band mates. I also ultimately owe it to my parents for supporting me each step of the way. Not everyone has parental support with their arts career so I am extremely grateful for that.
