Meet Kate Pawlicki Bourne | Founder & CEO

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kate Pawlicki Bourne and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kate, what role has risk played in your life or career?
No risk, no reward! It is better to have tried and failed than to have done nothing.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I founded the company in 2007 as a digital agency, and we now span across retail and hospitality. Our on and off-line activations push business leaders to revisit their brand mission and personality in unexpected ways. Going beyond identification of “the next big thing,” we partner brands with emerging digital trends and content.
In the midst of the pandemic, we expanded into podcasts. How I Got Greenlit, a new podcast hosted by the Creator of HBO’s Project Greenlight Alex Keledjian, explores how films get made. The “Greenlit” series is one example of how we go deep into our niche to source the currents and mindsets that will have long-term resonance and meaning for brands.
Our Formula for Brand Success:
• LOCATE ID the tendency
• ILLUMINATE Show examples of the tendency across multiple platforms
• CURATE Facilitate partnerships between tendency and brand
• INCUBATE Maintain an engaged dialogue to further brand success

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have a little dog, Romeo, who loves to be out and about, so my itinerary tends towards pet-friendly spots:
Runyon Canyon – I love to take guests here to see the incredible views of downtown L.A., the Hollywood sign & Pacific Ocean
Laurel Canyon Country Store – Grab a sandwich or munchies and have a hang outside with an iced coffee from Miss Lily’s Laurel Canyon Café Coffee
Dinner at Pace – (means “peace” in Italian) – Look for the peace sign on the brick wall beneath the Laurel Canyon Country Store for a hidden entrance to the nighttime restaurant
New Beverly Cinema – A historic movie theater (now owned by Q Tarantino) that only shows movies on film. I worked at the popcorn booth in the way back so that I could see free movies…and still love the spot.
Drinks at Cafe Stella in Silverlake at the back bar
Wine + Eggs – Pick up natural, organic wine, spirits, snacks + provisions in Atwater Village
Arcana Books on the Arts – An incredible curation of books (+ posters) at the historic Helms Bakery in Culver City followed by brunch at one of the many great restaurants nearby

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband, CJ, and the continued support of my friends and family
