Meet Mindy Shamp | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mindy Shamp and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mindy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Not to be cliche, but I figured, why not make money doing something I really like? That was the beginning at least that got me started. Growing my business has taken a lot of learning, trusting my intuition, and building a brand that people really trust.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a photographer who loves all the moody vibes. I really want to capture authentic emotion and I work really hard to put my clients at ease in front of my camera. I feel really alive when I nail a certain vision I had or capture a shot that has that extra feeling attached to it. Over the years, I’ve grown as an artist and business owner. My art is constantly evolving as I gain inspiration from so many different places and develop more skills along the way. As a business owner, I am proud of where I am. I started 4 years ago with a little old camera and one lens. I’ve been able to be patient with myself and grow my business as my skill has grown. I’ve been intentional about seeking out educational opportunities to expand my business and brand. I’m so lucky to get to do what I love.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Obviously my kids deserve a major shout out for letting me constantly use them as models and for being my side kicks in all my location scouting. It’s really fun to see their interested in photography grow and hopefully one day one of them will be working by my side. My husband is for sure my biggest supporter and deserves all the praises for being my on call tech support.

I’ve also really enjoyed connecting with local photographers. I’ve met incredible artists who are really supportive and inspiring. It’s fun to be able to shoot together, share ideas and learn from one another.

Finally, I wouldn’t even have a business if it wasn’t for my incredible clients. They’ve grown with me, shared their ideas with me, and trusted me to share their story. It’s so meaningful to have someone put their trust in me to capture their big and small life moments, their love stories, and their milestones.
