We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Scaringe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ryan, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson I’ve learned centers on the ability to form the right team and work with each crew member effectively. Building the appropriate team is essential in every aspect of filmmaking.
What should our readers know about your business?
Clear and unique genre films are the backbone of Kinogo Pictures which derives its name from the Greek combination of Kinisi (Moving) and Alogo (Horse) paying homage to the 1886 Eadweard Muybridge Piece- THE HORSE IN MOTION. Eadweard Muybridge’s piece started the cinematic language we know today and is a symbol of how far we’ve come. Kinogo prides itself on ensuring that it works with an inclusive and eclectic group of individuals both behind and in front of the camera.
As a young production company, it’s become increasingly important to identify the importance of a good story and finding ways to stand out amongst a sea of content that’s released on a daily basis. Each project garners new insight and knowledge on ways to better improve the production quality for the next project and the missteps that we should avoid going forward.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
LA is a city that has a little something for everyone. My favorite recommendation centers on Griffith Park. I typically like to recommend a hike up to the observatory and a visit to the Griffith planetarium. Getting a chance to see the beautiful landscape and city really helps people appreciate all that the city has to offer.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m extremely fortunate to be working in the arts and am extremely grateful for the support I’ve garnered from my parents in pursuing this career. In 2017 I graduated from the AFI Conservatory Producing program and attribute every aspect of my career in this industry to the great professors, mentors and friends I learned from at that school. AFI helped me garner relationships that have helped me enormously since graduation and introduced me to trusted collaborators and mentors.
