We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah & Justin Tilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah & Justin, what do you attribute your success to?
I think the biggest contributor to our success has been the community around us. As our business has grown, we’ve noticed a lot of clients becoming repeat customers and referring new business to us. We’ve been blessed to collaborate with other business owners such as Rose from Plant Baybe & our friends, Kris & April with Get the Skoop Ice Cream, which has provided opportunities to promote each of our businesses to new customers. We’ve also try to give back by participating in fundraisers for charitable organizations & donating treats to local schools. From customers & contemporaries to family & friends, the support shown by the people has been huge & we can’t be more grateful.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Treats by Mrs. T started out as something of a passion project, back in 2020, when Mrs. T rediscovered her love for baking & decided to share that love with the people around us. Once we refined our Signature Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe, our initial offerings included cookie dough for people to take home to bake themselves. As word spread & we started getting positive feedback, we pivoted to become a full Cottage Food Operation & partnered with other Business Owners on Pop Ups & began growing from there.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d start with breakfast at a local place called Cafe Jolie & follow that up with coffee from one of our many local Coffee Shops like The Local. From there, on the East End of Alameda, there’s so much shopping that one could do, including stopping by All Good Living for Alameda branded swag.

After that a movie at our Art Deco inspired Movie Theater, followed by Dinner at Trabocco.

For other entertainment we could catch a Comedy Show or Drag Brunch at Alameda Comedy Club & end the evening with a nightcap at our local bar, Fireside.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our business started by the word of mouth & support of Alameda Peeps, a community Facebook group that we’re a part of. Their encouragement, votes of confidence. referrals & recommendations are what got Treats by Mrs. T to where we’re at today. Thank you Peeps!
