We had the good fortune of connecting with Sandra Chahayed and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sandra, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
My parents are from Syria and came to the United States in the 80s. I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley My background and upbringing impacted who I am and where I am today in a major way. Growing up my dad worked two jobs. My mom took care of a house and five children. When we all grew up she went to work. My dad worked and still works hard to this day. What makes me who I am is seeing how hard they worked for their children. They achieved so much and continue to push themselves to be the best they can.
I see this in myself and my siblings. We are all successful in our careers. Without the upbringing we had I don’t think we would be the business people we are.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Opening a business is stressful and nerve racking. But it is also very rewarding what sets floral Expression and myself apart from other flower shops is passion. My passion for flowers and love for making people happy. Each person is treated with love and care. Hard work dedication to the craft and a great attitude is what makes a successful florist.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
La is full of amazing sites. This is tough there are so many good option. I would take my best friend to local family owned restaurants. Those are the most unique and have amazing food. For example The Sunset Trocadero in Hollywood. Great food amazing ambiance wonderful owners. We would also visit places like universal Studios.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe all my success to my Parents, siblings nieces and nephews. Without their love support and help. I wouldn’t be who I am or where I am. My nieces and nephews are what motivate me to be the best I can be.
