Meet Beatriz Dias | Visual Artist and writer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Beatriz Dias and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Beatriz, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
From an early age, I was immersed in a creative environment that shaped my passion for art. My parents fostered a household filled with artistic expression. My mother, an illustrator, and my father, who dedicated his life to the television industry, ensured that my sisters and I were exposed to various art forms and cultural experiences. We would embark on family trips to museums, exploring the profound impact of ancient history on our society.
These experiences played a pivotal role in shaping my aspirations. I knew from a young age that I wanted to become an artist, driven by a deep-rooted desire to express myself creatively. The specific area within the arts didn’t matter as much to me; I simply yearned to be part of this diverse and captivating world.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is a reflection of my journey of self-expression and exploration. What sets me apart from others is the multidisciplinary nature of my artistic endeavors, combining elements of design, motion, photography, and painting. This eclectic approach allows me to convey my thoughts and emotions in various mediums, each offering its own unique language.
One aspect I am particularly proud of and excited about is my transition from the digital world of motion design to the tangible realm of photography and painting. While working in the television industry, I received an unexpected invitation to become a TV host, which opened up a whole new path for me. It was during this time that my love for the music industry, initially a hobby, became an integral part of my life.
From there, I ventured into photography, initially as a backstage hobby. Over time, I began capturing fashion photography for magazines, further expanding my creative horizons. Seeking new experiences and cultural exposure, I made the decision to move to Los Angeles after spending six years working in the fashion industry in Brazil.
Currently, I am engrossed in street photography, drawing inspiration from luminaries like Vivian Maier. Exploring the candid moments and stories within everyday life fuels my artistic vision. Additionally I am also a writer for the prestigious Brasilians newspaper, a bilingual publication that has been serving the Brazilian community in New York for over 40 years. This role holds immense significance for me as it allows me to utilize my voice to connect with and inform the vibrant Brazilian community residing in the United States. Being a writer for Brasilians allows me to bridge the gap between two worlds, bringing a slice of Brazil to the United States and sharing the experiences and perspectives of the Brazilian community with a broader audience. It is a role that fills me with pride and gratitude, knowing that I can use my passion for writing to contribute positively to the lives of others. My journey has not been without challenges. Like any artistic path, it has required resilience, adaptability, and a willingness to embrace new opportunities. Overcoming these hurdles has taught me valuable lessons about the importance of perseverance, self-belief, and remaining open to unexpected twists and turns along the way.
Ultimately, my goal is to create art that resonates with others, evokes emotions, and prompts introspection. Through my work, I strive to offer a glimpse into the depths of human experiences, capturing both the beauty and complexities of life.

Brazil boasts a profound artistic heritage and a thriving contemporary art scene that has profoundly influenced and inspired me. The boldness and creativity exhibited by Brazilian artists have served as a perpetual source of inspiration in my own artistic endeavors.

Their contributions have not only enriched the artistic landscape but have also left an enduring impact on a global scale.
