Meet Daniela Lugo | Actress and Filmmaker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniela Lugo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniela, what inspires you?
I as an active latina actress and filmmaker, I am inspired by my latin community and my people. I have never felt so connected to my country through my work and my projects. My two upcoming projects “WIFI DATE” and “THE MARCH OF THE PENGUINS”, are two powerful stories that empower latin people.

I want my stories to have an impact around the world.
I want to inspire young filmmakers and actors around the world who want to pursue acting. I felt that inspiration with Alfonso Cuaron, Guillermo del Toro, Alejandro Iñárritu, and Salma Hayek.
I hope one day I could be as good as they are.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been pursuing acting for almost 10 years. I cannot see myself doing anything else. Acting gives me joy and life.

I have won international awards and accolades thanks to my amazing career. My home country has given my art national recognition.

For the last year, I have been working on incredible projects with amazing filmmakers like; “$Me So Thorney” by the famous influencer King Bach, “Posada” by the new upcoming Mexican/Spanish filmmaker Nuria Schettino, “Hey Boo” by the talented actress Logan Browning, among others.
I have done commercials with the famous filmmaker Marc Cunningham for “Industrious”. Also with the brand Target for the pride month and short stories for SEIU15.

My career for the last years has been taking me to places that I have never imagined.
It is a challenge to pursue acting nowadays. It is getting harder to sustain myself as a working actor but not impossible. I have faith that my opportunity as a filmmaker and as an actress will come at the proper time of my life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I will take them to a road trip around California. I will make sure that they will have the road trip of their lives by doing the route 66 and renting a van.
Exploring all the nature and food that California has. And creating remarkable memories with them.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank all my crew and cast for my upcoming project “The March of the Penguins”. A movie created and performed by Mexican talent only. I have never produce anything in my home country, and this project changed my life. I want to thank all the cast and crew members. Thank you for making me a better actress, filmmaker, and person.
