Meet Peiyuan Xi | Producer & Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Peiyuan Xi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Peiyuan, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
My passion for art and creativity stems from a deep desire to captivate audiences with compelling stories, conveyed through the diverse and immersive experiences of film and visual media. As I matured, I came to realize my distinct talent for transforming words into vivid images, a testament to my keen perception and expressive abilities. Embracing this newfound confidence, I fearlessly embarked on a journey in the world of film creation.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What fills me with immense pride is the establishment of XI ENTERTAINMENT LLC, my film production company, which, over the past year, has successfully produced an impressive array of seven works, ranging from movies and experimental short films to television dramas. These creations serve as a testament to the diverse voices of Asian creators and the richness of multicultural expression.
I owe much of my present success to the invaluable experiences gained during my four-year film studies at Syracuse University, where I consistently cultivated my creative prowess. Equally instrumental have been my devoted and like-minded partners in the world of filmmaking, whose unwavering commitment has helped us surmount every obstacle during the production process. I firmly believe in the power of collaboration; together, we can achieve more than any individual endeavor.
Looking forward, my ultimate vision is to see the unique perspectives and creative passions of every artist coming from East Asia showcased on the global cinematic stage. With unyielding dedication, I shall continue my mission to bring forth exceptional film and television projects that emanate from the rich tapestry of Chinese cultural heritage, captivating an ever-expanding audience.
These creations serve as a testament to the diverse voices of Asian creators and the richness of multicultural expression. I am appreciated to be invited by Todd Lin to produce a new Gaysian film namely EKG, which present by iStage Entertainment LLC. We produced this film together with Director Allan Broka to talk about a story saying a new doctor struggling to connect with his family discovers freedom and acceptance through the “Gaysian” party scene.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Los Angeles is renowned for its world-famous Santa Monica Beach and the iconic Griffith Observatory, both must-visit spots where I would gladly take my friends to behold the stunning Los Angeles skyline. However, my personal favorites lean towards the enchanting night views of Mulholland Drive, the tranquil shores of Malibu, embarking on sea adventures to Santa Catalina Island, and experiencing the thrill of skiing at Big Bear Lake.
As for dining options, the city presents an overwhelming array of choices, but I always make it a point to introduce my dear friends to the delightful Italian cuisine at Ca Del Sole near Hollywood, the authentic Vietnamese flavors at Pho 79 in Santa Ana, and, of course, the mouthwatering steaks at the renowned Matu. And when it’s time to unwind with a drink, there’s no better place than the 71Above bar, where we can revel in the urban panorama while savoring our beverages.
Los Angeles is a treasure trove of destinations, each embodying the harmonious fusion of diverse cultural backgrounds from around the globe.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Joseph Chih is the person who I want to dedicate my shoutout. He is one of my closest creative teammates in our filmmaking experience. Because we always sit down together on the sofa or on the table to critique every detail of our film production whether in the summer or winter. Every time I talk with him will lead me to be excited for the next time’s production.
