Meet Maisy Kay | Singer & Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Maisy Kay and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maisy, why did you pursue a creative career?
I think the first time I decided I absolutely had to be a singer was seeing Phantom Of The Opera in London when I was around 7. I was so inspired by Christine and the power and hypnotism of her voice, I wanted to be able to do something similar with my own singing voice.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m most excited about the new direction we’re going in with my artistry. I call it whimsical ethereal pop, and I think it’s a great definition of both my music, but who I am as a person too. Finding that niche was far from easy, and it took a decade to feel fully comfortably in who I am professionally and personally. So I would say one of the biggest lessons I had to learn was that you can’t rush the process, and there is no one correct path for any artist.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d definitely have to check out Tsujita Annex for their ramen, it’s the best I’ve had outside of Japan! There’s also a super nice Italian spot called Uovo that I’d always recommend. I think Cinespia is a super fun activity to do, I especially love their cemetery screenings! There’s also a super cute gelato bar called Capri in Venice and a bar called Belle’s further down the road which is a very fun vibe, also a super geeky bar called Scum and Villainy in Hollywood which I adore. I don’t know if this counts since it’s not October yet, but my all time favorite thing to do in LA is their horror nights at universal and knott’s scary farm!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to my Mom. She is my best friend and biggest supporter, and it’s been that way my entire life, which is a privilege I know not everyone is lucky enough to have. She’s sacrificed so much for my career and is the most selfless and inspiring person I know.
