We had the good fortune of connecting with Meagan A Culberson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Meagan A, how do you think about risk?
I used to be afraid of taking risks because I was terrified of the unknown outcomes. I liked to play it safe because that’s where I was comfortable and felt most at ease. Looking back, my hesitation to take risks was more about my need for control than my fear of the unknown, and trying to control every outcome is not only exhausting but completely unrealistic. Risks are necessary in life and in your career. Sometimes, things and plans work out, and sometimes, they don’t pan out the way you wanted them to; however, in the end, the risk still taught you something. It taught you either to believe in yourself and trust your gut, or it guided you on a different path that encouraged you to restrategize a plan in order to get the result you want.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am creative at heart and love to create convivial gatherings that bring people together. I currently organize and host a coffee pop-up for creatives called Cafe Luna, where I invite and gather action-oriented creatives together to encourage authentic relationships within the creative community. Additionally, I am the CEO of a lifestyle brand for single women called Single Girl Club, and I work with writers and wellness practitioners to create content that motivates and encourages single women during their growth journey and teaches them the importance of practicing self-love.

Building foundations can sometimes be a struggle, and challenges come when you least expect them, but having the right people in my community, practicing patience, and detaching myself from certain outcomes have helped me greatly in this journey of entrepreneurship.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a picnic girlie and love being in and surrounded by nature. I would recommend doing a fun picnic at Griffith Park, or maybe I would check out a local art gallery in the city. If my guests were coffee lovers like myself I would take them to my favorite coffee shop Bloom & Plume in Echo Park and then take a fun boat ride at the Echo Park Lake.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is dedicated to my community of creatives and women I have in my life. They help sharpen me and help me grow into the person that I want to become. They offer me words of wisdom and encouragement, hold me accountable, and give me a listening ear when I need to vent. I am so grateful for each and every one of them!

Additionally, great books from Jen Sincero, Nedra Glover Tawwab, and James Clear have assisted me with building healthier habits, setting solid boundaries, and helping me recognize my inner badass.
