We had the good fortune of connecting with Cheriana Resky and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cheriana, what are you inspired by?
Our New Music Video, Llamadas Vacias, starring Manu Beker, one of Mexico’s greatest musicians/ film composers, was an experimental music video that showed choreography and narrative. Besides being a great, talented artist, Manu Beker, our director, Jon Frenkel Garcia, brainstormed many ideas about the concept behind it. We have so many references that need to be felt the same way as the music is. The inspiration behind the music itself is combined with the concept of the narrative story. We were trying to spread some Hispanic Heritage, which is the Bachata Dance. From the Cinematography side of Llamadas Vacias. We tried to focus the idea of detail meaning from production design, camera movement, and lighting could reflect the artist’s to feel the beat. We tried to make a fast beat movement and happy in a visual way, such as a colorful production design but reflected the sadness in the color palette and choreography movement. We couldn’t agree more that cinematography combines all pieces to speak an unspoken feeling. We tried to make a concept of how to tell sadness in such a colorful and dynamic. Midsommar 2019 by Ari Aster is one of our color palettes and feeling film references. Unattached feeling is shown by camera movement that was steady-handheld from Knives Out 2019, directed by Rian Johnson.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We couldn’t say it was a challenge, but more excitement for each member to make a Llamadas Vacias music video. We were trying to mix all the ideas and create a masterpiece. Jon, our director, has specific ideas about the music video, and Cheriana, as the DP, is trying to make all the ideas happen. We are all passionate in each field, so every cast, artist, and crew member has put a hundred percent effort into this project.
