We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Bonham and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amber, can you tell us about an impactful book you’ve read and why you liked it or what impact it had on you?
One of my favorite books is, “Ask and it’s Given” by Ester and Jerry Hicks. It’s really inspirational and helps you understand how shifting your vibration can assist with the law of attraction and manifesting. I first read this book at the beginning of the pandemic and it’s had a huge impact on my life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m so grateful to have a profession that I truly love, I spend my days as a music therapist; singing and helping others. One of my favorite forms of artistic expression is singing, and since childhood I have been exploring ways to connect more deeply with my voice. In addition to my love for singing, I really enjoy listening to and supporting others. It wasn’t until the pandemic that I discovered sound therapy, and at this time it felt like everything began to unfold for me. In 2020, I got certified as a Reiki Energy healer and started to explore Sound Therapy with crystal singing bowls and other instruments. It was a beautiful bridge between my love for music and helping people, and my singing was such a unique addition to this healing modality! Within a year I started facilitating sound baths at yoga studios and private events. I’m thrilled to be able to work with so many people doing what I love, and grateful to be doing it five days a week in Los Angeles.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Los Angeles is full of so many fun activities, so it’s hard to choose! However, I live on the west side and I’m all about the beaches. The Santa Monica pier is a must see if you’re in from out of town. My favorite thing to do is ride bikes along the beach path and get corn dogs and fresh lemonade. I also love the ferris wheel and the other ride attractions, the entire pier is so fun and it sits right over the beautiful shoreline. I also enjoy Malibu or Redondo beach, when I’m gonna go out for a swim I like to find a less populated beach with big waves for surfing, although I’ve never surfed I do enjoy watching others. The first Friday of every month on Abbott Kinney is also really fun, with food trucks and music and gifts! The Griffith Observatory is incredible on a clear night too, I love looking though the big telescope and the view from the location itself is inspiring. Los Angeles is full of incredible hikes, and there’s just too many to list but we would find the time to explore all of nature. My favorite activities include time outside immersed in the ocean and forests! What I love about LA is that there is something fun in every corner of every day, and you can always find something.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to dedicate this shout out to Leah Zaccaria, the owner of a beautiful yoga studio in the heart of Venice. Shefa Yoga Venice opened in the pandemic and it’s become a second home for me. I was given the opportunity to host weekly sound baths at this location and it’s been a huge part of my success. Leah believed in me and supported my journey from the very beginning. Shefa means abundance and Leah embodies that in her company and as an individual. Not only has she opened the doors for me professionally, but she’s also been an incredible mentor and friend. I’m grateful to have a home studio where you can attend my sound baths three days a week. I’m there Sundays at 7:30pm. Mondays at 4:30pm and Tuesdays at 7:30pm. Come check it out!
