Meet Juliet Annerino | musician & writer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Juliet Annerino and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Juliet, why did you pursue a creative career?
Since childhood, I’ve been fascinated by the magic of story-telling; how it can give us wings to other ideas, people, cultures, and worlds. I always felt to be fulfilled, I had to pursue some artistic, creative life.
Storytelling took on many forms for me. As a kid, I fancied myself a future novelist. When I discovered music as a teen, an entirely new potential for communication was revealed to me.
The way I see a song is that the message of lyrics as the precious cargo, a carriage, swept gracefully, swiftly and powerfully into the psyche of the listener via the movement of the music, like a galloping stallion. I became a musician for this reason, but I remained a storyteller outside the field of music as well, writing poetry, short stories, copy, content for tech (blockchain) startups and even ghostwriting for individuals and nonprofits.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art today revolves not only around sharing my music and the music of composers from the great American Songbook with those around the world–names like Cole Porter and the Gershwin Brothers, George and Ira–but in telling the stories of others, through my ghostwriting service, “TellyourStoryWithUs.com.” I’m excited not only to visit new countries, learn about new cultures, and play music with musicians from these other cultures, but to share the stories of others.
I believe that everyone we meet has a fresh experience of life to express, contemplate, contextualize, and to learn from. This is wisdom. A free expression, uncensored and elegantly presented, is essential to a free society. I want to be part of this as a movement in whatever way I can.
I want to reach out to others around the world to encourage and inspire. To affirm their story as essential. To support them in the belief that their voices should be heard and considered by others worldwide. To facilitate this, I would like others to know that I offer my talents, energies, and time to bring Truth to light in an impactful, beautiful, and accessible way to the world.

Thank you so much for allowing me this opportunity to share some of my ideas and work with your readers!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have acted as a bit of an eccentric guide to mostly family members visiting my current home of Los Angeles, CA. I really love LA and I especially enjoy showing visitors places that are a bit unusual.
One of the most well-known, but uniquely “LA” experiences for anyone visiting is Venice Beach. The most fun and interesting element here is not the fine sand and great waves of the ocean, but the people. Seeing the great diversity of people performing, and selling their wares and services is quite a fantastic spectacle! Everything from beachwear to high fashion, massages to fortune-telling is here. The colors, sounds and scents are like no place else. The food and drinks are great too.
One of the most “normal” but still I believe fun places to visit, besides the beaches, is the Peterson Automotive Museum in the Mid-Wilshire area. Since so many people are familiar with famous cars from movies and TV, it’s especially impressive to see these, as well as historic vehicles.
I also like to include a visit to the La Brea tarpits with its historic appeal and adjacent museum. This place is almost never crowded and affordable as well. These two sights are not far from each other, so they make for a nice day outing.
Since LA has such an active rooftop bar/restaurant scene, I like to show visitors some of that culture as well. Probably my favorite rooftop spot is the Perch in downtown LA. This also gives me an opportunity to show people the impressive, if gritty downtown area of LA. Yes, NYC and Chicago are not the only big cities with a real-city feel! The Perch has a beautiful atmosphere with classic European decor and great food. Live music is also featured, depending on the day and time you’re there.
I would take a visitor through some beautiful, less tourist-visited areas like Hancock Park, Echo Park, and Silver Lake.
Finally, I would take friends and family to my personal favorite place for happy hour and appetizers, Figaro Bistrot on Vermont in Los Feliz for the closest atmosphere to a Parisian cafe I’ve ever experienced in LA. It’s also the best place in my opinion to see the vast array of different people from all over the world, living here in LA and wearing the wildest, most interesting fashions to match their personalities.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As far as help along the way, I have and continue to have gained so much from others! First, to support this, I’d like to credit Dale Carnegie and his timeless book, “How to Win Friends and Influence People.” It is a treasure of common-sense wisdom on how to navigate social life respectfully. This I believe to be the single most important factor in success, as we all live in the structure of society in some way. I truly believe in the saying, “A rising tide, lifts all ships.” Connecting others to opportunities creates opportunities for oneself. This has been one of my most important lessons.
