We had the good fortune of connecting with Nona Patel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nona, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my business during the midst of the pandemic. I was working full time and when the shutdown happened, I went from working 40+ hours a week to 12 hours a week, I was bored out of my mind at home. I always enjoyed doing crafts when growing up so I started into looking for DIY kits to keep myself busy. One day, I stumbled upon wood flowers. I made a wreath from my home, which is still hanging in my home. My husband who was thoroughly impressed, asked me to start selling wood flower creations and hence Wood Blossom Creations, LLC was born. It literally was one of the best decisions I made in my life.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love creating wood flower arrangements. I let my creative outlet take the wheel. After a long day at work, I look forward to my time creating wood flower pieces as it relaxes me. It’s like my therapy. It’s been a long road and I am very happy with what I have achieved so far in my career as a small business owner. I have loyal customers who have been with me from the day I started. I believe in making bonds with my customers, it’s not always about the money. And I have made some very special bonds over the course of my business career. I spend countless hours hand-dipping, hand painting or airbrushing the flowers. I then, arrange them into beautiful bouquets or centerpieces. In the end, the love and support of my family and clients makes it all worth it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to downtown Naperville and show them around Riverwalk. Riverwalk features about a mile and a half of brick path, fountains, bridges, outdoor sculpture and artwork. I not a foodie lol. I’m mostly vegetarian, I will eat chicken occasionally. One of my favorite restaurants in Naperville is Vai’s. I often dine at Vai’s. Their food and service is exceptional.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to my husband. Without his encouragement and support, Wood Blossom Creations would have never existed.
