Meet Violet Tashchyan | Interior Architect & clothing designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Violet Tashchyan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Violet, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
Upcycle, redone doesn’t necessarily mean used clothing. Items or articles of fabric/clothing can be new to be considered upcycled .
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am an alumni from FIDM (the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) with an Interior Architecture degree. I practice mid to high end Interior Design in Southern California and have my own studio, Violet Tash Interior Design. A Brand Called California is a product of the pandemic. ID Business was slow and a creative person can’t just sit around and not create. So I started having fun with my hoodies and painting on dresses. When I went out in public wearing my pieces, I got tons of compliments & people wanted to buy my hoodies. My growth as a brand owner started organically. The reason why I continue to make hand crafted clothing is because of the size of smile my creations place on people’s faces. It makes me happy seeing others happy buying and wearing my pieces. Each item is truly one of a kind and takes 3-5 hours to create.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m born and raised in LA, Los Feliz area, however I feel at home in the Desert. I would take my friends to La Quinta where I spend most of my time and have lunch sitting next to the many man made lakes surrounding the resort communities. There is a beautiful store called MarketMarket in downtown Palm Springs which carries a full line of A Brand Called California clothing and footwear.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The most important people who have helped me to achieve the title of brand owner are the ones who saw what I was wearing and asked where they can buy my work. Thank you to the strangers who helped me build my brand.
