Hi Kao, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Long story short ..there are alot of doors slammed in your face out there. Especially when you’re unknown behind Hollywood’s door. I come from a family that believes when one door closes, and the other , you go to Home Depot and learn how to build your own door to walk thru it. Your terms. With that in mind, it was my Aunt actually who really inspired me to go back to school to learn the mechanics behind the music industry in full, learn the tricks of trade in which I did ( I graduated from the Los Angeles College of Music right before the Pandemic ), so I can build my own Empire. This is what began Kao The Brand LLC authentically, Im just doing really what most Independent Artists’ do on the beginning of their journey.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Hello my name is Kao Wonder, and I am a very outgoing Performer/Entertainer While Industry wise im know a Independent Music Artist, I also tend to dance my butt off and provide you with a memorable show that will reach the pit of your spirit ! When the curtain goes down, I am know as the Founder of my Independent Entertainment Company & Label called Kao the Brand, LLC. Like in old traditional Lgtbq+ lifestyle, I too am the Zaddy to a Haus of dancers, known as the Haus Of Kao. On my off days, I am also songwriting and co songwriting with my Co- Songwriters….Seems like alot right? It is but it isn’t Lol. I wear many hats and somehow thru Gods grace I manage to hold them on top of my head. It isn’t an easy process nor role, I quit every day for about an hour..then I remember my purpose and jump back into the burning building with faith and message as my fire extinguisher. MY brand’s purpose is quite clear; to promote self love and confidence in a world where self esteem is at a dangerous low and mental heath illnesses are peaked all over. Each time I write a lyric, perform a song, or engage with an audience, I let them know thru my show how much I appreciate them, I advocate for them to push for themselves, and as a DJ friend of mines said in Santa Barbara “You are the Party Starter ??”. Can’t help it Lol!! I can’t answer how I overcame my challenges because I am still in the valley of my challenges (aka the burning building), but stay tuned….When im out I will let the entire world know just how exactly Ive done it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I hardly go out anymore due to the demand of my schedule if im honest but in my past there is a few places I would always indulge in

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
They say ” it takes a village to raise a child” , and I can tell you this is true 1000% in the industry. Just to name one of very few, shout out to Mistress K & the FIF Crew. This woman is not only funny, she has put me on too sooo many opportunities to showcase my talent to the world, even if the crowd isn’t prepared to see it. She has helped me soo much inspiring me to move forward with confidence and faith. Aside from suppporting me, this woman has Produced over 100 live shows ALL over the western region, has mastered the art of drag by creating the man we love to hate “Kiitus Black”, and a DAMN GOOD COMEDIAN …and a very dear friend to me. So I will dedicate this Shout Out to her!
