Hi Vicky Zi, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I think deciding whether to keep pushing forward or to change direction in our careers can feel overwhelming. But if you’re truly passionate about your career, don’t give up until you’ve reached your goal. In the animation industry, it’s important to stay true to your dreams. Seek advice from others and reflect on whether your projects align with what’s happening in the industry.
Think about how you’re using your time, energy, and money. Make sure you’re investing in what truly matters to you and what will help you achieve your goals.
Remember to take care of yourself along the way. Your well-being is just as important as your career success.
Be open to new opportunities and willing to adapt as the industry changes. Trust your instincts and keep moving forward towards your dreams.

My art is a blend of captivating storytelling and visually stunning aesthetics, aiming to create immersive experiences that resonate deeply with audiences. From whimsical character animations to breathtaking environments, I infuse every project with emotion and depth.

My journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been incredibly rewarding. I’ve faced challenges, from self-doubt to industry competition, but I’ve grown stronger by embracing these obstacles. Collaboration and mentorship have been vital; surrounding myself with passionate individuals and seeking guidance from mentors have fueled my growth.

Ultimately, my goal is to create art that inspires and resonates with people. Whether through storytelling or visuals, I aim to evoke emotions and spark imagination. I’m dedicated to pushing the boundaries of animation and storytelling, excited to continue sharing my art worldwide.

Most important thing I’ve learned is that not giving up and keep going, your dream career will come true, it’s just a matter of time. All the effort will pay off.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area for a week-long trip, I’d want to show them the best of what the region has to offer. We’d start by witnessing the breathtaking sunset at Los Leones hiking trail. Perched atop the mountain, we’d find a chair where we can watch the sunset paint a stunning panorama of the beach and mountains merging into one picturesque view.

During the daytime, we’d indulge in a shopping spree along Rodeo Drive, exploring the luxurious boutiques and soaking in the glamorous atmosphere. For dinner, we’d head to Santa Monica, where we can dine at one of the charming seaside restaurants, savoring fresh seafood while enjoying the ocean breeze.

After dinner, we’d take a leisurely stroll along the iconic Santa Monica Beach, sipping cocktails and relishing the vibrant energy of the bustling boardwalk. With the sound of crashing waves as our soundtrack, we’d immerse ourselves in the laid-back ambiance, creating unforgettable memories under the starlit sky.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

Throughout my career journey, I’ve been fortunate to encounter individuals whose guidance and support have been invaluable. During my undergraduate studies, my 3D animation instructor, Paul Downs, instilled in me the importance of perseverance and resilience. At Taiko Studios, Shaofu Zhang imparted a valuable lesson: to nurture each animation project with care and dedication, striving for perfection in every frame. Now, at Respawn Entertainment, Moy Parra empowers me with unwavering belief in my abilities, urging me to trust the process and have confidence in my work’s potential.
Beyond these mentors, I’m grateful for the unwavering support of my family and friends, who have stood by me with patience and encouragement as I continue to grow in my career. Their belief in me fuels my determination to keep pushing forward, knowing that with time and effort, I can achieve my goals.
