We had the good fortune of connecting with Bryan “Ace” Torres and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bryan, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I look at risk as opportunity. A lot of opportunities are presented when you takes risks. Along my journey I’ve had to make sacrifices which has been risky in itself. Without risk, there’s no opportunity.

I’ve been told for years now that what I’m trying to accomplish and do is very risky, which in fact it is. But that’s because I want more out of life and I have big goals that I want to reach. Without taking those risks, I wouldn’t have been able to get closer and closer to my goals.

Taking risk will be the difference between getting what you want, and staying where you are. I love to grow and evolve, I don’t like to feel complacent. Taking risks has opened doors for me and has presented opportunities. Don’t be scared to take risks, life is risky in itself, and if you want more out of life, you’ll have to take risks to get what you deserve.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Acting to me is one of the purest forms of art. There’s different ranges of emotions and expressions that you can project onto others. The whole process of building and creating a story is what really draws me into the world of film and television. That to me is my favorite kind of art.

Getting to where I’m at has been a long fought battle. It’s not easy competing in the industry that I’ve chosen to peruse. You’re going up against some of the best in the industry and you’re competing with thousands of other actors who are also trying to tell their own story.

One of the lessons that I’ve learned throughout my journey is to be patient. It takes so much patience to go into an industry like this where you’ll audition 100 times and get rejected 99 of those attempts. It takes time and time will eventually do its thing. At first, it was something that I struggled with and something that I’ve definitely learned to control. Being patient has helped me let go of the feeling of being stagnant. I don’t like feeling like I’m not going anywhere or improving, but I know with time and patience, it’ll all pay off.

I want to be known as someone who despite being rejected, I’ve always kept going. I haven’t given up and I never will. I want to show the world that discipline and consistency can take you a long way. Perseverance is something we all need and something that will help you reach new heights.

I’m excited for the future. I’m working on my own independent project at the moment that has potential to become something great and it’s something I would love to share with the world one day. Time, consistency, and patience will get me to where I need to be.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love the different views Los Angeles has to offer. I would take my friend to the Griffith Park Observatory to see how beautiful the city looks at night and to show off the city of Angels. There’s a lot of good food places around the city, especially the food trucks that I would love to take my friend to so he can experience the different and diverse foods that are available here in this city.

I’d also take him to see the Santa Monica Pier to show him another tourist place that a lot of people go to. It’s a nice place to visit and hang out at due to the different activities you can do there. I would take them to different cafes around the area and check out the bars in the area to get drinks and catch up.

Or I’ll take them to the Americana to see the different stores, restaurants, and other shops that are in the area. The Glendale mall is right next door in case they want to shop and see what’s in store!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give some recognition to the people who have supported me along my journey. For one, I want to shine some light on my agency for signing me and believing in me. They’re the reason why I’m able to keep going and perusing what I love to do.

I also want to give some recognition to my friends who have believed in me and have supported me throughout my journey. They’ve been with me since the beginning and I started this journey with most of them by my side. We still push one another to ready new heights and motivate one another to keep going despite how things may look.

My family has also been a huge part of my journey. They’ve helped me get back on my feet when I’ve fallen and they have pushed me to continue on my path to reach the goals that I have set for myself. I only have a select few people in my life that I keep close, and they’ve all have impacted my life in a positive way.
