We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelsin Pupunu and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelsin, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I love this question, because I think this is a crossroads that everyone comes to at one point or another in their lives. I’ve been close to giving up quite a few times in my life, but I chose not to, because I had some really great people around me to give me some great advice to keep moving forward. I think the answer comes down to one simple fact – the only thing guaranteed by giving up is failure. Success isn’t guaranteed if you keep going, and you might still fail, but at least you can look yourself in the mirror and be proud that you gave it all you had.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The reason I came to LA was to pursue this crazy dream I had of becoming an actor. Pursuing that has been probably one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made – leaving everything I’ve known behind to chase a seemingly unreachable goal. Although this story/dream isn’t unique to me, I think the lessons I’ve learned of not taking things personally and continuing to find ways to hone my craft and to get better each day are invaluable and will serve me in every other pursuit of my life. I think the work ethic that you have to have in order to be successful is universal regardless of what industry or goal you have. I’m super excited to see where my journey will take me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting, we’d probably first start each day by trying a new coffee shop – I’d take them to a couple of my favorites like Memory Look or Primo. We’d have a little walk around the Palisades or the Venice Boardwalk. I’d take them golfing at Rustic Canyon. We would grab some food on the pier at The Albright and take in the sights. We’d drive up the PCH and stop off at Lily’s Malibu for a great burrito. They’d have to try some of Sidecar’s doughnuts, and maybe play a round of pickle ball or two at Memorial Park.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To be honest, there are so many great people who have helped me to be where I’m at today, and to choose just one would be almost impossible. However, I definitely wouldn’t be here without the love and support of my family. Without them, I definitely wouldn’t be the person I am today, and I’m not sure I would have the courage to pursue a dream which at times can feel almost unreachable. They are the ones who keep me grounded, and the ones who help to give me the strength to keep moving forward!
