We had the good fortune of connecting with Nivia Da Silva and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nivia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to work with my passion. I’ve always had a love for baking and I had pursued it in the past but never went fully into it. During the Pandemic I found myself with time on my hands and decided to invest into education to broaden my knowledge on baking. I did many online courses and eventually in person ones and I’ve been perfecting my craft. It brings me so much joy to make sweets and cakes that will be enjoyed by people celebrating!

What should our readers know about your business?
I believe my Brazilian recipes set me apart! The recipes I use are ones I’ve learned through taking classes and some that I’ve learned way back in the day from my family. The cakes and sweets I offer are loved by all ethnicities and that makes me so happy to be able to share a piece of Brazil with all my clients. It was a very long and difficult journey to get my business where it is now, but I would do it all over again to be able to work with something that brings me such joy. I want the world to know that I once pursued baking, years ago. Due to circumstances I had to step away from it but I found that path again and pursued it to the fullest degree. I didn’t give up on my dream. You should never give up on your dreams!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d bring my friend to Malibu and Santa Monica for the day! I love being at the beach and there are so many nice restaurants to get some fresh seafood.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family! They have fully supported me since the day I shared my dream with them. They always gift me cool baking gadgets and equipments and share with me new ideas to try out to further help my growth. I wouldn’t be able to do it without my husband, my children, my granddaughter and my lovely pets!
