Meet Diana Alvort

We had the good fortune of connecting with Diana Alvort and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diana, what principle do you value most?
Optimism! With a dose of realism of course. It makes me grateful and makes me hope and plan for the best.
Yes, sometimes it causes disappointment too, when the expectations are not met, but I exercise Optimism to find the bright side and silver lining of adverse situations and relationships.
I feel Optimism is our ally to build resilience and find alternatives.
After all, losing a good opportunity could be a prize in disguise, when later on, a better opportunity comes.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Hola! I am Diana Alvort, a proud Mexican-Spaniard-American singer, actress and songwriter, passionate about cultural diversity and human connection through music, acting and stories. I love blending genres, eras and languages to create layered and exciting new “worlds”.
I want my music and films to be an inspiring source of enjoyment and a bridge to enrich our experiences and awareness beyond our immediate surroundings, celebrating our own identity and culture while embracing the beauty of others too, hopefully erasing barriers and growing more unity among us.
I am fortunate to have collaborated with amazing artists, performing in arenas, TV shows, theater and many events, among them “The Voice Mexico”, where I got standing ovation from the celebrity judges and audience! and above all, I got to hug Ricky “mi amor” Martin, lol.
I also lived in Austin, Texas for a while, where we formed an all-girl original band, “Diana & The Amazons”.
At the same time, a friend from another band explained to me how Blockchain technology could help the world in many ways, and I found that so inspiring I composed “Blockchain for the People” which we performed at the Blockchain Awards in Canada, emceed by Colin Mochrie and Debra McGrath!
Now I’m based in Los Angeles and I am honored and grateful for “The Sovereign”, my first lead in a feature! It got the Audience Award at LA IFS Fest and is collecting many awards around the globe.
I have been working on other films too (comedy, drama, action, thriller) while studying music and acting, playing music around LA and I am venturing into writing my own movie after I loved the satisfaction of co-creating and acting in “Letting Go”.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Fun question! I’d mix my friend’s interests and budget with mine to create a great itinerary. I am still discovering places in LA, but these are things I would be excited to do:
1st day: Malibu.
We’d start at Getty Villa, afterwards we’d walk by Malibu pier, beaches and then to Paradise Cove to enjoy seafood with boba coconut rum at sunset.
Back to home early and chill since they might be tired from the plane.
Next 2 days, we would do some typical LA musts:
2nd day: Downtown / Hollywood. Lots of things to pick from there: Museums such as The Broad, Grammy´s Museum, then we’ll visit China Town and Little Tokio for ramen, to continue exploring downtown and check out rooftops such as Perch or Ace hotel, at evening we’d walk on Hollywood Walk of Fame and maybe catch a red carpet or fest at The Chinese Theater, or a musical at The Pantages, a vintage screening at the Egyptian or a great concert at Hollywood Bowl.
3rd day: Beverly Hills / Santa Monica / Venice.
We´ll drive on Beverly Hills Neighborhood, Miracle mile, Rodeo Drive strolling with a stop for coffee and dessert at lunch, then we’ll do scenic Mulholland Drive towards Santa Monica and Venice beach, we’ll go to the Promenade, and have a pizza for dinner.
4th day Griffith / K town / Melrose/ Los Feliz.
We’ll explore these areas walking and eating all day a mix of delicious Korean bbq, Oaxacan food and/or Thai food and desserts in Thai town, then we’ll go to Griffth Observatory at sunset to enjoy the views and the telescope, at night we can catch a show and tapas at El Cid in Silverlake.
5th day: Laguna Beach! Brunch at Mozambique, boat tour and chill.
6th day: Getty Museum / Sunset Strip. I love the Getty! We can start our day there and drive a bit around Bel Air, for dinner we can go to the Fairfax Farmer’s Market and at night we’d check out some of the iconic bars and comedy clubs on Sunset Strip.
7th day: More Hollywood/Weho: Hiking at Hollywood Reservoir lake and iconic places in Hollywood, tikka masala curry at Urban grill for lunch! a margarita at Tempo on happy hour and for the grand finale salsa dancing at El Floridita + after party at Weho, to sleep like a baby on the road back!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
To all the kind people that root for me, thank you! My deepest gratitude to my beloved husband, mom, siblings, collaborators, mentors and dear friends. And of course, thank you Shoutout LA for sharing my story with your audience!
