We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelica Artifex and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angelica, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
From a young age I knew I was creatively skilled and felt a deep connection to the artistry. Sometimes I fell like I didn’t choose to be an artist; it chose me. It is who I am.

In my early teens, I tried working at office, but I couldn’t keep those jobs for more than a month. I’ve always needed excitement and challenges that move me. Since most of us spend the majority of our lives working, I wanted a job that was part of my identity and something that could inspire me every single day.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m really proud of my latest single, “Out in the Wild.” It’s an energetic summer song that blends my Scandinavian and Caribbean roots, with high energy and mystical undertones that really resonate with my identity. The song is out now and available for everyone to enjoy.

Managing my music career, modeling, and acting, all by myself is a challenge that I do embrace. It’s been a journey of personal growth, and I’m proud of every step I accomplish. Back in the day, I never thought I could handle so much on my own. Keeping my cool in hectic situations is essential to keeping everything on track.

Through it all, I’ve learned that literally everything is possible, kinda.. it’s all about context and perspective.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
On the day of my friends arrival, I would take them to a quiet beach in Malibu, just for them to settle from a long flight. We would listen to good music and have a picnic in front of the it’s. We would hit the most touristy and key places once just to get over with it and then explore hidden gems in the city.

One of my favorite spots right now is Barra Santos in Cypress Park. They have a great selection of drinks and tasty bites. There is also a pizza place next to door, I haven’t tried their pizza yet, but I’ve heard it’s good, I would definitely try it next time I’m in the neighborhood.

Dancing is something that my friends love! So I would take them to La Descarga for some salsa dancing, it’s a particular place that is worth to experience at least once. La descarga has beautiful old Havana type of scenery that makes me feel a bit home. And their in-house live band along with the burlesque dancer is a real treat.

There’s so much to do in LA, but these are some of the highlights I’d share with my friends at this time.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve got a whole lot of people to thank and shoutout. There have been so many wonderful groups of people who have believed in me, supported, and given me the tools and strength to continue on this journey. All these highly intelligent, intellectual, and cherished individuals know who they are. You know how much I appreciate you.

Also, a shoutout to producer Lugo and co-writer Celeste Williams, who have been part of the creation of my latest single, “Out in the Wild.” This teamwork is solid and inspiering.

Lastly, a shoutout to my mom and dad, my biggest cheerleaders, who listen to my endless monologues. Tack mamma, gracias papa. I’ve been truly blessed with all these individuals from all over the world whom I can call friends and family.
