We had the good fortune of connecting with Rami Altawil and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rami, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Rimaal’s conception, was driven by a passion for music and a desire to create something meaningful. I found common ground in my love for music, particularly house music. I realized that I wanted to create more than just parties; I envisioned community-driven events where people could connect and enjoy quality music together. This dream inspired me to turn my passion into a reality, bringing people together in a unique and enriching way.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I was introduced to the electronic music scene when I was 18, and my passion for it only grew from there. I began DJing at local events back home in Damascus, Syria, which gave me a deep appreciation for the power of music to bring people together. From those early days, I always carried the dream of creating something beyond just parties. I wanted to build a community-driven experience where people could connect and enjoy the finest music together.

What sets Rimaal apart is our commitment to creating unique and enriching events. Our focus is on fostering a sense of community and connection through music. We prioritize high-quality production, diverse and inclusive lineups, and memorable experiences that resonate with our audience long after the event is over. I’m most proud of how we’ve been able to bring people from different backgrounds together, creating a vibrant and supportive community around our events.

Getting to where I am today professionally wasn’t easy. Growing up in Damascus, I faced many real-life challenges from an early age, which taught me resilience and creativity. Starting a business, especially in the competitive world of music and events, came with its own set of obstacles. However, with determination, smart decision-making, and a great team of partners, I was able to overcome these hurdles.

I’ve learned many valuable lessons along the way. One of the most important is the power of love and passion in driving success. Our genuine love for music and bringing people together keeps us motivated and inspired. Another key lesson is the importance of resilience and adaptability. Challenges are inevitable, but they also present opportunities for growth and innovation.

I want the world to know that Rimaal is dedicated to creating lasting memories and connections through music. We are committed to delivering exceptional experiences and continuously pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the music and events industry. My journey and the story of Rimaal are testaments to the power of dreams, hard work, and the incredible support of a passionate community.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Los Angeles is incredibly diverse, offering something for everyone. If my best friend were visiting for a week, I would take them to explore Downtown vibrant art scene, including The Broad Museum, and enjoy rooftop cocktails at Perch. We’d spend a day at Santa Monica and Venice Beach, biking along the boardwalks and dining at The Misfit Restaurant + Bar. A hike to Griffith Observatory and a visit to the Hollywood Walk of Fame would be a must. We’d also explore the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, shop on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, and enjoy Universal Studios Hollywood. For relaxation, we’d spend time at Malibu’s beautiful beaches and dine at Nobu Malibu, making sure to savor the diverse culture, world-class dining, and natural beauty that LA has to offer.

I want to give a heartfelt shoutout to my co-founders, Nic and Anas. Their dedication, creativity, and unwavering support have been instrumental in building Rimaal into what it is today. Their partnership and collaboration have made this journey incredibly rewarding.

The biggest credit, however, goes to all the amazing people and artists who have supported our events from the very beginning. Our community’s enthusiasm and passion for music drive us to keep pushing boundaries and creating unforgettable experiences. Their encouragement and participation are what truly bring our vision to life, and we couldn’t have come this far without them. Thank you all for being a part of this incredible journey!
